Hello all. I am a cell phone so please bare with me. I am a fairly new player and have a 80 asura warrior and now an 80 charr engineer. I was doing wvw with guilds on turnish coast. They told me that warriors are good condition cleansers with war horn and battle rez with elite banner. As for engineer. ………..? Ok engineer. Lots of guild said engineer is mostly a roamer and powerful duelist but brings little to nothing to wvw zergs. My question is .. Is this true ? Is engineer an excellent solor roamer and what gear should i get ? I heard celestial gear is good for defense and sustain and rabid or dire is good for burst conditions. But honestly i dont know what i am talking about but id like a good ganker engineer build and advice for roaming and scouting in wvw and my war is for team social play. I also have a razor naga and can synergy combos to study. So i can learn. Thanks engineer people. Thank you and have a good one.

Thanks to the Scrapper nerf all of your dreams have turned to ash. You will only find death on the battlefield Engineer. There’s nothing you do well that everyone else doesn’t do better and with less effort.

Dire is just fantastic with how much defense you get with a respectable amount of offense through condi’s. The problem is if you come across someone with a setup that can defend themselves against heavy Condi damage then you’re kind of SOL and best to just disengage. Dire/Rabid with Balth runes and P/P, Flamethrower. Firearms with 113, then I’d go Alchemy and pick up HGH. Last line there’s lots of options.

One of the favorite things to do though is drop a few elixirs to get your long might stacks from HGH, then come in and fire all your…fire (burning) stuff and try to burst them down.

For that last trait line, Tools is great with extra dodges as an option, perma swiftness and auto stunbreak, or you can get double Incendiary ammo if you wait to use it until you can get your first evade, then release a second burst (weaker initial burst for a second burst after they’ve cleansed).

Remember to pump out more than just burning though, that’s our burst condi, but bleeds stack up nicely, and then other condi’s even if they aren’t pumping the damage are great to cover and force the use of condi clears. And, poison will make their healing less effective so perhaps saving at least one of our options for that for when they get a bit lower to toss on when they will likely pop a heal.

Overall though I suggest you hit up Youtube, there’s probably a ton of video examples that will be your best way to learn other than just playing yourself.

We’re also not bad in large scale, just not optimal, there’s actually a lot of things we can do.

Rifle, and grenades. Bulwark and medic gyro and rocket boots.Sneak gyro for elite to keep combat where you want.
Inventions 2-3-3 , explosives 3-2-2 and scrapper 3-1-1.
Armor full soldiers(*all) and food for 70 vitality while utility power conversion from toughness. Both fairly cheap.
Opinions differs around from player to player but believe me, that setup save me from a lot of trouble too many times and conditions are not so good inside wvw especially against skilled players.
You will do fairly good dmg as an output while toughness will keep you alive not mention the defences from med and bulwark gyro. Also grenade tool skill making a great dmg with all the power comes from soldiers armor.
Set your ground target to auto(keep aoe on selected target) and fast cast enable.

You will end up be a master kiter and ofc we re talking from a new player prespective.
For skill players that changes a lot…

Is it luck or skill keeping you alive?
