I never go anywhere for New Years Eve so last night I was goofing around trying to figure out a new character. I tried a couple different combos and ehhh. Nothing caught my attention until I made a Charr Engineer. For some reason I’d never tried an Engineer before. And granted I’m only lvl 10 but I’m having so much fun! This Charr may just stick and turn into a fav. I will do some reading (since I’ve never even looked into an engineer) but I’d appreciate any tips on what to do…..or not do.

I found the main guide here so mostly I just want to say how much fun I’m having with others who feel the same way. ;-)

My first toon was an engie. I’ve made every other class but revnant and i still play my original engie 90% of the time. Even through the good and bad of the class “balancing” we receive I still get the greatest enjoyment when I play engineer. Its the most rewarding class when played well, imo. Hope you have fun leveling yours. Engie is probably one of the best classes in open world content.

My one regret is I wish I had made a Charr engie not a human one :/

how to level as engi: spam bomb 1 until you hit level 80

how to play as level 80 engi: use 4 kits (grenade, bomb, flamethrower, mortar if condition; grenade, elixir gun, flamethrower, mortar if power) and use ur strongest skills off cooldown, filling the cooldowns with weaker attacks that have a dps increase over grenade 1. if everything is on cd use grenade 1

what to do: look up guides. engi is a complex class. practise your rotations, because you’re gonna have to press a billion jillion buttons to get maximum dps

what not to do: play engi while ur really fatigued if you’re in high-end PvE content and die like me

stealth strats, might stacking strats and other tricks can be found on youtube and metabattle

you can add me and we can talk ingame, if we’re EU maybe we can play sometime if i don’t have the answers, i know someone that does, and if he doesn’t then he will probably also know someone that does

Thanks for your thoughts! I’m actually glad Engineers are complex. I get bored easily. :-D

Bomb 1 + circle kiting has indeed allowed me to beat Champions over my level without taking much of a hit, even. (My engineer is level 45.) Of course BOBs & fire bombs & concussion bombs &c. also help.

I’ve also found it helps to drop an offensive turret and kite around that.

Also, Supply Crate is definitely the elite to use while leveling.

Except: and this is embarrassing. I haven’t been playing GW2 for long, don’t even have any max-level characters. But my Series-D Defensive Golem has made an even bigger difference than any of the Engineer elites for ease of taking down tough mobs. I just flush with shame whenever anyone catches me using it.
