Newish Engineer with a few questions
No one wants to help a brother out?
I’m looking for a strong bomb and rifle based build if you have one please share. Also:
1) Does Elixir-Infused Bombs Gm trait heal me like other badly labeled traits?
2) Why does my flame thrower miss all the time!
Flamethrower is still somewhat bugged, although lately it hasn’t seemed to be quite so much for me.
Far as I can tell play-testing, the bombs only heal allies, not yourself.
Saying you want a strong rifle and bomb based builds doesn’t say much… do you mean for PvE? PvP? I don’t know much about PvE but I can help you with a good rifle/bomb build for sPvP if you message me.
Traits
Elixir-infused Bombs
-Base heal(aoe)=136 Health
-Ratio is 1 Healing Power= 0.13 health(75 Healing =10 health more healed)
(but since you start with 300 Healing power because of the trait it will be 176 health base with no healing power except from the traits.)
All bomb heal for same amount, except Big Ol’ Bomb which I didn’t test enough.
Big Ol’ Bomb-Base heal(aoe)=151 health with 300 Healing power
Backpack Regenerator
-Base regen=125 Health per tick (Not influenced by healing power at all, but stacks with Super elixir regen and normal regen)
Low heath response system
-Base regen(10s)=130 Health per tick ,Ratio is 10 Healing power=1.2 Health
(You need to be hit under 25% health to active it, not get to 25% health.)
Fun facts are that normal regen stacks with super elixir regen and backpack regenerator, and all healing skills except backpack regenerator are influenced by healing power.
2) It has to do with how the hit box and the camera work. All channeled cone skills have this problem.

Thanks for the help, and I’m thinking a pve and maybe wvw build.
A build I used in pve and wvw that gave me high damage was rifle, grenade kit, rocket turret. Elixir H and B. Traits were 20/30/0/0/20. I also would swap that for 15/25/0/10/20 giving me a bit more survival in wvw. I found that the elite mortar didnt give me the range I wanted and the charrzooka was ok, but I really play the supply drop mainly. Artillery barrage was disappointing. My style of play was more defense oriented in wvw – seige monkey.

artillery barrage is a really great combo for when you use elixir S, nice at dropping sieges too.

Not sure if they still do, but smoke bomb, fire bomb, and glue bomb all heal for initial explosion and pulse. So if you are farming mobs in high level areas, all the combined healing and blind makes mobs go easy mode. If you want even more healing, take kit refinement and elixer gun, and you’ve got 1k+ healing a second and the condition removal from initial impact of elixer guns “super elixer”.
As for flamethower, try not to move when using #1, instead use other skills when changing positions as much as possible. Same goes for your target, if they move, especially into melee range and strafing out of the original cone hitbox, FT will have issues. Avoid strafing and moving in curves, only straight lines. Its a pain, and unless you have a good field to use it with, I recommend you use a different weapon.
