Hi everyone I’m new to this game and I can’t wait! I just have a question: I really want to make a norn engineer as my first character, and I want to know if I’ll have a tough time later on if I choose this race/profession combination.

In terms of skills it doesn’t matter. Every combination of profession and race are pretty equal. You will however have a few issues when it comes to WvW/PvP as Norns are pretty big and you will easily see them coming and their animations. You can of course reduce this by not making your Norn maximum size

Only thing norn offers are a few transformation skills Wich are still pretty decent but not needed to overcome anything. Your probably better off simply using engie based skills. Cough Suplly crate only usufull elite cough.

For racial id have to say char vs azura, since they have huge edge on the3 roleplaying side for an engineer.

Of course Asuras are best! But if you play WvW Norns are pretty useful with their racial elites! If you play Norn, you can get away with not running any mobility utilities because you can just go Leopard Form and escape!

Norns are also pretty useful in the Thaumanova Fractal for the same reason if you play PvE!

If you’re going to be using your engi in dungeons often, norn is a great choice. The Charge skill on the bear form elite is similar to a fiery greatsword’s rush when used against a walled foe, with the added benefit of continually interrupting most anything due to CCing every hit.

Bear and leopard form are also great escapes, and can be useful for escaping uneven fights in WvW, though they won’t beat supply crate’s usefulness in small fights.

In sPvP you’re better off not going with a large norn though, unless you want one for trolling on skyhammer or something.
