Random though: as an engineer, if you’re falling and you try jumpshot right before you hit the ground, does it save you from fall damage?

The ground killed him… Even if you attribute the ground damaging him as the OP’s damage, it was still 2 shots.

PS> I’m just having fun, I was hoping to get my click back hehe.

It wasn’t the ground that killed him, it was the sudden deceleration. Haha

Nope – at least not in limited testing. Skill definitely performs as normal, though, so you might be able to use it to transport you some distance laterally to stop a very long fall.

I tried it in WvW once, but got beat up trying to position myself and lure the other player near the edge. I wanted to push them off too badly.

Can also do it with air blast, throw mine, personal battering ram, accelerant-packed turrets, thumper overcharge, and big ol’ bomb if you’re really sneaky.
For the most part you’ll rarely get the opportunity to throw them off a lethal edge, but just seeing people fly all over the place is hilarious.

Being one who frequently uses Jump Shot to take shortcuts in puzzles, I know a lot about how it works.
If you are on ordinary terrain, Jumpshot will land you anywhere in range that you can walk to. If you are trying a jump between a steep ledge or two separate platforms, things get different. It has no problem landing you somewhere LOWER than your starting position, but Jump Shot can only land you at a very slightly higher elevation if you are targeting somewhere you cannot walk to.
This is relevant because you are midair, you can’t walk back onto your ledge (let alone walk at all)

Buuut even so, you WILL take falling damage if you Jump to a position steep enough to call for it.

So to answer your question: No.
…mostly.

If you wanted to jump back to the ledge you were on, it wouldn’t work unless you are launched remarkably high. You probably won’t have the chance to use Jump Shot quick enough because of the short global CDR from being interrupted.
BUT, you should theoretically be able to target and jump to a nearby lower platform that is less deadly than the long fall down if your reflexes are quick enough. Jump Shot DOES work in mid-air, so I see no reason why this wouldn’t work.

Meh I was yesterday in much more funny situation. We attacking keep it was full of arrow carts so I was constantly <50% HP. Then ranger come on the edge with their noobish one button autoattack QZ spam and down me. He was on edge so I try that same what thiefs do – I use Grappling Line witch kick him from walls behind me and after use Booby trap and blast him into the chasm behind me where he die on fall dmg:-)

I can’t shoot enemies off of things with OC-shot. They just get blown to the edge and bounce off of nothing. Is this different against players than it is mobs?

Yes. mobs stop at the edge and dont actually fall down. Players can actually be knocked over terrain and down edges.

@OP’s stuffs

Hah, I did the same thing on my ranger. This bull-headed Charr was sitting there on a cliff operating an arrow cart, trying to cover his buddies on the field below. I pulled a “I’M BATMAN.” and smacked him off.

It made my Wvwvw day.

As for the game itself and gravity, I kind of wish it worked a little more like SWTOR in the way NPC enemies could be killed using height. I’ve been stuck in a pitched battle on a cliff more than once, wishing I could fling my enemies to a grisly death with my point-blank shot. In SWTOR, if you knocked an NPC off a cliff or into a chasm, they didn’t hit an invisible wall or run up the cliff to attack you, as in WoW’s case. They’ll take damage based on their fall, just like players.
