Hello, so the past week while wvwing I realized that the engineer in wvw while far from useless doesn’t really have anything to hold its hat on. Basically you never hear commanders call for engineers and that got me thinking about some niches that may be left unfilled in wvw that we could possibly take over.

The idea I came up with was to create a new grandmaster trait in tools that would allow our magnet pull in toolkit to become a small AOE centered on the target like the pistols auto or a cone attack. This would allow for us to pull 3-4 people into a single spot on a relatively low cooldown assuming they are clumped up together as is common in zergs. I can imagine this would really synergize well with necros, guardians, and other engies and would really give the engineer a useful move to help zerg busting. The other advantage is it would help maybe open up some more build choices in wvw as opposed to everybody going hgh grenades or hgh conditions.

What are in the engie community’s thoughts on this idea? I understand that the cooldown may need increased in the trait slightly as it could be too good with the current cooldown but I really think this could not only give engies a nice boost in a different spec than grenades while also opening up a whole new tactic in wvw.

No, if u already pull the right Player out of the zerg, u have already done too much. If u go ahead and blindly pull in a zone where u see AoE caster, u probably are going to melt the zerg.

And Anet doesn’t want those kind of unbalace, since they think every1 must have a role, and with that trait u would probably give up the gap closers (tank guardian and burst warrior) to directly build a whole burst of AoE to insta kill all those poor soul that didn’t see the magnet comming.
