Overpowered?

The funny part, is if you read most of those post, they do two comical things. For one, they claim the engineer can do thing that they cannot. Secondly they claim things such as grenades got buffed in the last patch. When poison grenade took a 40% damage nerf.
Most of them do not have the slightest idea that grenades themselves only have 2 damaging condition on the entire kit. Or that bombs only have two damaging conditions on that kit. They will often cry bomb/grenade condition spam, when in fact, it takes 25s after the first round for grenade kit to apply 2 more damageing conditions in themselves. While bomb kit takes 18s.
The amount of poster making accusation and claims on the forums, with a complete lack of knowledge of the subject matter that they post about, is absolutely comical.

What it comes down to… is engi is fairly underplayed. When an engi gets beat they often know what happened because I think in general anyway. We are more likely to have more alts. lol
Most people don’t understand the engi class because they have never played one for themselves.
Our condi builds are pretty fast though… and I think part of what makes them feel so powerful is that we can stack a full 25 stack of Vuln on someone with a couple good RNG roles on the first couple nade hits.
More than anything else, Balthazar Runes, multiple+reliable burn sources, and wide condition coverage makes condi engineer very difficult to deal with, even with tons of condi removal. Everything else seems pretty okay though.
we’re not overpowered but when played right y’r rewarded for it. Also when you play sloppy you die pretty quickly…
That is me as a zerker rifle engineer. Only use the grenades for long range tagging and the toolbelt skill. Have had the toolbelt skill do 7k single target dmg which is just as much as a maxxed out meteor from a zerker elementalist.
Backstab is still a problem but I find that slick shoes are a very effective counter to them
OP means its good at least according to the forums. You can’t have OK, or Balanced you have UP or OP. Your OP if you beat someone who has died to that class more then a few times, your UP if they always beat your class. Your a good player if they don’t think they should lose to you but they did. You have no skill if you beat them on a class they lose to often.
You can only be accepted in most peoples balance eyes if you play a bunker guardian that does no damage or you play a ranger. Everything else is OP people even want to say Ele is OP now because of strength Runes even though a warrior can put on those same runes.
I did see a thread about Engi and Ranger being OP so I guess now you can only be balanced as a Guardian. Which is funny because I would be willing to bet if they gave Guardian the slightest bit of soft CC to stay on a enemy people would call Meditation Guardians OP. Right now you can kite them all day so therefore people say they are balanced.
Advice don’t pay attention to them.

Are we really overpowered now? I’ve seen this complaint popping up more and more. And now when I beat someone it’s cause Engi is OP and has nothing to do with how well I played. >. <
Yep. GJ Grouch. Finally Engis are “in a good place”. You can spam that in your podcast for a year!
It’s because people assume engineer is a “hard” class to play when in fact engineer is an easy class to play, but hard to play well. For someone who does not know how to counter an engineer, grenade spam will slowly overwhelm them…grenades are an easy kit to use so they pull out the OP card. Decap engineer successfully decaps against them and the pull out the OP card. When in reality Decap is countered by rangers and mesmers and if an engineer is spamming grenades they probably don’t know any decent combos and just suck anyway.

Retired my engi right after I made it. Because it’s too easy, too versatile and too cheesy.

Bad dancing munkey! No lies! Well, not really lying, but you’re forgetting that each ’nade is 3 hits, and crits individually, which means that you have a much higher chance to proc bleed/burn on crits, and then you can add shrapnel for even more bleeding. Makes point blank ’nades ouchy. Plus, since we can swap freely back and forth between pistols and kits, we always have some kinda thing to throw at people.

I think you miss my point. I was referring to post that claim such things as “the immobilize on grenades is ridiculously OP.” Which I can assure is exclaimed in multiple post by multiple posters. My point is, that one clown reads someone making inaccurate statements in one thread, and they use said misinformation to support their statements in an entirely different thread.
Part of my point is that the kits are not particularly strong in themselves. The traits compound the damage. Pistols are irrelevant to a poster claiming grenades need to be nerfed because of condition damage, when the condition damage is coming from the players pistol.
How much are we procing at 4% crit chance? Because if you read all of the post that are crying OP, they are screaming that what makes it so bad is that we all wear nothing but full dire gear and use perplexity runes. Such are the claims that I call comical and uninformed.

Eh, it would suit the dumb sound and visual effect of Quip. Half the time I feel like i need over sized pants, big colorful hair, bright suspenders, a flower on my shirt that squirts water, and a nose that honks, when I am using it.

Huh, I gotta say, if you’re going full dire ya might be losing out, unless you’re just trying to be beefy, cheesy, goodness.
I’m talking from a s/tPvP perspective usually, my poor compy can’t handle wvw, so DIIIIRE Rabbit monkeys all the way. (Seriously, asura are rabbit monkeys.)
Also, QUIP COULD TURN GRENADES INTO BANANAS! IT WOULD BE PERFECT!
But I do agree, the only kits worth using completely untraited are bomb for fields, toolkit for survivablahblah, and sometimes e-gun. Never been a big fan of it myself, mostly because it looks like quip’s big brother.
Take it as a complimant OP. Anybody that beat certain people is going to be becasue they play an OP class. Funny enough, those type of people choose their class based on what they thought was going to be an OP class.

what are the factors here
- 45% duration instead of 30% like most runes
- cant mitigate/dodge IP
- firebomb and nades cover a whole point (pvp specific)
- engi can easily spec ~4 short cd burn sources, cant cleanse it all
- super easy to cover your burns with other condi spam
the amount of burn sources wasnt really an issue before the patch, but general condi spam was getting complaints. so its prolly mostly the runes are just too good, like perplexity was.
