[PVP] pistol pistol
why people say pistol pistol is bad in pvp ? with balthazar runes i find it really good now . I play them with 6,2,0,4,2 , rocket boot , bombs and toolkit. The only think i have to say is that roocket boots are really important with pistol pistol becouse i use blast finisher for health (F1 of healing turret and rocket boot ) . In many fight i feel myself stronger than with shield ..
Only unexperienced people say that. The current rank 1 in teamq in the US (chaithh) plays PP over PS…and so do i.
Im a fan of p/p myself. That aside, in my pvp expierence it can be hard to land attacks well between stuns and fears etc. with the p/p. As engie is a class that has to keep moving back and forth to make all our skills land effectivly, i find shield very awsome to get me out of though situations when melee proves ugly. The problem with p/p is for me that i dont have enough stunbreakers/escpapes then and get in a deadlock. Skill 4 on p/p is really awsome though, big dmg, short CD.
i use a build with P/P and grenades. I usually , when they melee me spam p 5,4 grenades tool bet , then grenade 3 for blind , 4 for chill 5 and escape and i find that this sequence works really well. I find that P/P synergy much more with nades rather then bomb … even if i love bomb … which build do you use ?
i am only in doubt to switch rooket boot with EG in the build you see i use above
P/S is slightly more defensive than P/P. That is all.

I am not so sure of that. Often i miss shield 4 knockback … ok you have 2 block on shield but with a huge cd . I think that the spam of pistol 5 when they are on you is a really strong defensive skill ( for evasion) and it has a lower CD . I know that Shield is more defensive but i feel more viable defending with P/P.
One of the reasons people would say that p/p is worse is because it lacks CC. The only thing it provides is glue shot, but that doesn’t help remove people from nodes or really help you keep a node (not in a direct sense, at least).
The shield provides a knock back which is also a blast finisher (more heals and might), and a defensive block ability that can interrupt an opponent. The rifle provides some potent CC with overcharged shot, and you can follow it up with a net shot to easily decap a node if you shoot someone off of it.
Since the sPvP format is based on node control, having those abilities to help take or keep nodes can be quite valuable.
That isn’t to say p/p is bad by any means though, it just fills a different role. Given that it’s mostly condi damage though, I think people mostly overlook it because they feel they can keep sufficient burning uptime by relying on incendiary powder, especially if they are also running bombs.
Sometimes I enter PvP after having done WvW, and I forget to swap my p/p out for my rifle, so I do a match with p/p. It still functions really well though. In the end, I’d say it just largely depends on what your team comp is and whether or not p/p will really provide what your team needs.
Chaithh pays Vee wee’s build at the Moment AS far AS I know. I love Chaithhs p,p build but the meta changed so I play it with EG and without Elixir s. I can’t stomp with this build but EG makes 1vs1 easier.

P/P is gr8 if you don’t have any burning other than Incendiary Powder! So if you are running Bomb Kit, Flamethrower, or even Flame Turret or Rocket Boots, stick with shield! Otherwise use P/P!

i played classic shields build for long time ( 6,2,0,4,2 o 6,0,06,2) with bombs toolkit and usually EG or rocket shoes but it seems to me that with shield i miss dps and shield has a very huge CD…i tried also bombs and grenades without toolkit but …. i love toolkit too much …
