Check out my FT/EG build i came up with this week to pretty much outlive everyone 1v1, make condition classes quite with rage and pretty much become immortal.

I see a lot of people struggle with necro’s and other condi engi’s and i think this small guide will give a bit of insight to you dudes.

This is, in my opinion, a bad build (honest critique, no offense intended!).

Deadly Mixture won’t be a huge DPS improvement since your power will be SO low (Rabid Amulet/Jewel), and the so-called immortality is on 90s of cooldown.

You take Elixir H without Fast-Acting Elixir, so why don’t you take Healing Turret? You get another 2 condition removal on a 15s cooldown.

I believe it’s just personal preference, but Protection Injection + Stabilized Armor cover up your single, HUGE weakness: vulnerability to crowd control effects (you only have 1 stunbreaker, on a 40s cd).

I believe your build would be better suited with Dire gear, so that you have more than 4.5k at 25% health. Dire gear would put you at over 6k. Your conditions won’t be hurt much, as crit procs are not adding a significant amount of conditions anyways so losing some crit won’t make much of a difference for this build but you would gain a LOT more tankiness.

I also agree with Healing Turret. You’re missing a potential spot for more condition removal there, as well as a shorter cooldown and more healing. Deadly Mixture could be replaced too, as shouzama says you don’t have much direct damage anyways. Protection Injection, Fast Acting Elixirs (if you want to keep Elixir H, and it helps Elixir C), Formula 409, or Invigorating Speed would all be better options IMO.

It’s a good build idea and structure I think, and most of it is there, and I’m sure you’re very effective as it is. My suggestions are just that, suggestions, and I think it would make the build more effective.

I was unaware the theory crafting of deadly
Mixture and if it’s the case of it only applying to dd power builds then I shall amend this and add 409 to add condo removal with elixir h.

Honestly on the healing skill it’s personal pref. I also considered healing kit but 3 kit juggling can be mental. I did consider a few other survival talents but I think at that point I think its preference.

On the whole crit rabid vs dire thing it was merely for incendiary powder and other crit procs.

Also may I add healing turret is for the shield variant of the build I write about in the guide. Gotta love this water blast finishers.

Well, no speed kit and rocket shoe meaning if any of you opponent decide to run, there’s no way you could catch them

In pvp i can consider it, and replace the 6 with healing kit or healing turret.
In WvW, umm…. no thanks.
Anyway, I still bring elixer S even after the nerf because the invincible stomp, anti-spike function and the tool belt ability is just so dam useful.

Just a thing to note, even without trying to build for it, eng in pvp is alrdy one of the more annoyingly durable classes out there…

One thing that’s often overlooked is that is you’re using flamethrower with Sharpshooter and a good crit chance, Sigil of Earth starts to be worth considering. Since each time you use Flame Jet you make 5 attacks, which can each crit, you can stack bleeds in an area really quite well. I’m not sure I would recommend Flame Jet spam on a single target even so, but once you’re in a teamfight with 3 or 4 targets the damage can get pretty good. Just something to think about.

Sigils have cooldowns, and they go on that cooldown after proccing on just 1 target. You can’t proc multiple times in AOE.
