PermaSprint
Please remove this post. I want dont want them to nerf my speedy kits trait. =)
I sometimes use Flamethrower Kit for similar purpose.
Well, it’s not surprising, since engineer traits have three swiftness-focused traits (Infused Precision, Speedy Kits, Invigorating Speed) along with two movement speed increasing traits (Power Shoes, Leg Mods).
Just curious though, does directly re-equipping a kit (pressing the kit button when you are already using it) trigger speedy kits and other kit-swapping traits?
Yes it does, I use to use speedy kits for the perma sprint, but constantly switching the traits from “travel mode” to “combat mode” was getting to be a hassle.
Templar is telling you not to talk about this openly people. ANet will axe it if it gets too popular and gives you a slight edge.
They already know about the permasprint. That’s why they put a 5-second delay on proc times so you can’t just unequip and equip it multiple times to get a large amount of burst and sprint for long distances.
The kit switching is the penance for maintaining a permanent +33% movement speed.
Loudmouth, lousy PvPer, and mediocre PvEer.
I don’t own, I just play
If you use any 1 kit it works. The only difference with healing kit is that it is bugged and cannot be stowed by pressing the key again. Which is frustrating and needs to be fixed.
@ redfeather: funny enough, healing kit works perfectly fine in sPVP (not sure about WvW). same with the grenades underwater toolbelt skill: it works in sPVP, but not PVE.
rather amusing. they do need to be fixed, though.
In WvW it is also bugged. At least it is proof that there is some kind of PvE/PvP skill split for balancing purposes.
You know, you can just use swap weapon bind to go from kit to weapon again?
I know, but on engineer I swap between kits often and am used to just using those same keys to also the stow kits.
So far healing kit always messes me up, as I drop a healing pack instead of using my pistol skill almost every single time before I go duh-oh. XD
Well, it is even more natural for me to use ‘swap weapon’ to go from kit to weapon, because it’s universal (as opposed to using the individual kit bind again).
Just a matter of habit, I guess – but I can definitely commend trying to make it one.
I prefer to honestly use the ‘swiftness on crit’. Its not applicable during out of combat, and has a smaller uptime, but honestly, it allows you to keep your playstyle as it is and not reliant on anything else, and with “vigor on swiftness”, gives you, during combat with a crit build, near permanent vigor and swiftness.
If you go for kits… it just becomes a weird need to swap kits, and sometimes, its best to stick with one thing.
Ironically, this is also the only reliable source of vigor for us (at least as far as I’m aware of).
I’ve been using it ever since I was able to, but I would like to comment that it is 10 points spent in a trait line you might not otherwise use, and the use of a trait slot. So yeah, it’s permanent swiftness, at the cost of a lot of clicking, a different potentially useful trait, and a possible non-kit build, so personally I don’t consider this something that should be nerfed.
Oh and I tend to start battles by dropping a health kit instead of blasting someone in the face, but that is entirely my own fault
I wont mind it if got nerfed. Lets say a 10s CD on a 5s duration but if they nerf it I would like to see other profession get their own versions of perma swiftness nerfed.
It’s almost mandatory to have perma swiftness in spvp / wvw. Without it your just going to get run down or perma kited as an engineer. While the power shoes and leg mod traits are ok. Power shoes is far to deep in inventions for most builds, and both of them give far less passive speed than other signet’s and traits do.
I’ve actually always felt that these two traits should be combined and a new trait to give a passive 15-25% speed boost for using speed shoes or rocket boots added. To give those gadgets a nice passive boost.
It’s a fair bit of click spamming, sure, but it works really well due to the ‘bug’ in WvW/PvE right now where the healing kit button doesn’t work as a toggle, unlike in PvP. With other kits, you have to swap off then swap back on (so two actions) if you’re in the kit, which can be awkward, and if you prefer using healing kit anyway as your healing skill (which I do, due to the easy access to condition removal and the added healing from the medpacks), it’s effectively free beyond the trait investment (which also reduces toolbelt refresh anyway, making the medkit even better as a heal skill).
I also find that I end up having a lot of sprint ‘saved up’ when I actually get into skirmishes in WvW, since you also get +10s sprint each time you use the stimulant bottle. Since I also end up using it to trigger the flame blast form the Balthazar rune and the bonus healing from the medpacks, I’m finding that I have sprint (and vigor) up pretty much all the time even in combat.
I’m pretty happy with that part, but I’m curious if anyone else uses a similar set up, and if so, what slot and elite skills they find work well with it (mostly in context of open field WvW, small scale – 1-3 people). Most of the time I go with turrets/supply drop with rifle for heavy CC and some condition damage.
I’ve been using Speedy Kits for swiftness since day 1. I just spam Med Kit.
As also mentioned, you can have 100% Vigor uptime as well with Speedy Kits and Invigorating Swiftness.
I don’t see them nerfing this, it’s the point of the trait. However, even if they did put a short CD on Speedy Kits we could still maintain easy 100% swiftness through Med Kit’s #5 + Speedy Kits.
With rune of centaur, you can maintain 100 swiftness without investing in “speedy kits” and it last twice as long.

Unless I’m mistaken the buff is 12 seconds (+20% to swiftness through #3), but the lowest CD you can have is 15 seconds through Med Kit, so you’ll have 3 seconds of downtime?
