Pistol AoE bleed
It has a very small radius but my pistol 1 does aoe bleed.
Try firing on ground next to npc. It does not bleed it.
Don’t know about firing at the ground, but when you fire at closely-packed NPCs, AoE bleed does happen for me.
In that case it must be Sharpshooter that triggers the bleed. Try disabling that trait.
Fragmentation Shot does exactly what the tool tip says: “Fire a shot that bleeds the impacted target and then explodes, dealing damage to nearby enemies.”
The bleed is only applied to the targeted and any pierced enemies if Coated Bullets are used. The AoE effect is only direct damage.
However, with a high enough crit chance Sharpshooter will apply bleeds from this AoE damage.

Frankly if you need the bleeds, grab the elixir gun.
I so want to love the pistol, but just about the only attack worth it is the off hand flamethrower for the point blank burn.
Elixir gun works vs single targets, but nothing beats grenades for AoE bleeds and bleed duration/stacking.
