I could be wrong, but i think I bought a bad batch of darts. Could the nice fellows at ANet please supply me with darts that can accurately hit targets? Thanks in advance.

This has been broken since the dawn of man. A hidden penalty for using this ability actually at range.
At 900range its not uncommon to miss 2 or 3 darts. Sometimes i even miss 4. So for using an ability at a range that it should be perfectyl fine its suddenly 80% less powerful. Or in otherwords, the ability becomes upto 500% as powerful when used in melee range.

Which is why i feel Pistols are mostly a close range weapon due to how much stronger they are then.

It’s an intended effect, seemingly. The description of this skill in the GW2 hardcover guide says that the darts are in a spread because they’re being fired so fast so the user can’t aim properly. The supposed upside is that you can use it to poison multiple enemies in a crowd.

Absolutely. My P/P & Grenades character pretty much lives in melee range or kite just outside of melee. Far too many of my attacks require me to be in point blank range. It took some getting used to.

Though the Rifle isn’t that much better. It’s two high damage abilities require melee range to get full damage, so you still have to kite in and out of melee with the weapon. Though my Rifle & Elixer Gun character is built to instantly jump out of melee range, so it’s something that you can work around if you plan on it.

This is precisely why I love Poison Dart Volley, especially in WvW.

I’m afraid you just have to get used to it. It’s actually quite accurate at close to medium range.

You’ll also notice that most of our skills across our weapons and kits are only truly efficient at melee to medium range. Poison Volley isn’t bugged, it’s just following the trend.

Wait, it can actually hit other targets? I thought it was a bug too. GTK.
