Anyone ever run power pistol builds? I always just kind of assumed they didn’t work, but I’m rather curious… do they?

I’m not a big fan of kits, but I love the gameplay of dual pistols. I ran them for nearly 10 months (from headstart to a couple weeks ago), and started shuffling towards other things. For some reason this got me thinking about power builds and the pistols =D

So, what do you think? P/P power? No chance, or doable? If so, what utilities do you suggest? Gadgets, turrets or alchemy… as long as it isn’t a hobosack wearing skill I’m all for it! Yea, I’m vain like that.

An SD pistol/pistol build is a very viable build. Spread you traits over Explosives/Firearms/Tools.

You will be something of a glass-cannon, but it packs a punch. And because Explosives also increases “Condition Duration” , it works doubly well with pistols. Add in some Rare Veggie Pizza’s and you set.

It doesn’t synergize well with most power builds, especially without a single kit. My vote is a pretty solid no.

Pistols scale terribly with power, with pure full 100% your auto attack will hit for around 800-900 crits and dart volley will be your strongest hitting skill with 3-4k crits ( assuming all darts hit) and without kits, unless you run a SD build(surprise shot + sum else) , your actual dmg will be nom-existent

and should be nearly impossible to kill anyone on PvP/WvW

It is quite powerfull if you use Coated Bullets and fire into a cluster of enemies, top it off with Static Discharge and you can burst down any players with minions or allies around them.

Eh… yes, if nobody pays you any attention, you can do a little damage in this build, but considering that we have many builds that do better damage with far less risk or reward, I wouldn’t defend this one. I mean, you can technically make any build “work” for you if nobody ever actually tries to kill you, but going power and p/p, you’re fighting an internal battle with your stats right from the start, and with no kit to take advantage of either. You’re basically fighting with one arm tied behind your back.
