We are a proud profession. We came through some really dark times in the beginning. We still struggle today. Other professions look down on us, saying we are the jack of all trades, master of none profession. I say take pride in that fact!

Masters of none we may be, but we can still do it all! Sure our turrets struggle from engagement to engagement, but for a time they were things to be feared on control points across the mists! We only have four weapons to our name but their synergy is unmatched! With kit and gadget and gyro we stride across the battlefield!

Nerf after nerf we have remained a stalwart profession. Always I have seen the Engineer forum as different from the rest. Whereas other professions have lamented their nerfs and slandered other professions, Engineers have always continued to innovate, adapt, learn, and overcome. We take our nerfs in stride, figure out a different way to succeed, and say “please ANET, may I have another?” Other professions may look down on us, but we stand defiant! With hammers and rifles in hand we continue to march on to victory!

Brother and sister Engineers, remember where our profession came from and take heart in all we have accomplished! Be proud of your adaptability and remember…

WE ARE ENGINEERS!

Engineer is one of the few, if not the only, profession where the elite spec is not mandatory for meta builds. It can be useful in certain situations, but most optimal builds (for pve) do not use scrapper. Even in PvP you can do just fine with core engi…

I’m using the scrapper trait line but not hammer nor gyros. And I think most engies tend to do that: simply use whatever they feel can be useful in their own way, and never forever. What I mean is, Scrappers are still engies.

I tried that but with the exception of the flamethrower build for zerging (and even that uses hammer when not camping FT), I dont think the scrapper line works so well without hammer (on pve).
– The function gyro has very little use in pve.
– Impact Savant and expert examination looses half its functionality, as engineer has very few stuns and dazes (toolbelt for ram and AED are the only ones I can think of), most CC is knockdowns, knockbacks and blowouts.
– Decisive Renown is nearly useless in PvE as it doesn’t trigger when you kill a mob…
– Hammer and gyros are our only source of lightening fields, so shocking speed doesn’t really work well without hammer or final salvo…

Anyway, feels like if you take scrapper without a hammer you are loosing half the functionality of the traitline.

I agree. Scrapper is not as efficient without gyros/hammer.
My point was not to “recommend” my build, but to illustrate you can use whatever build you want and still get results and, more importantly, fun.
(I mostly use the scrapper line to store might and proc quickness with applied force + juggernaut + mass momentum. FGyro is barely useable to me, and Decisive Renown is just horrible, but I still got tons of fun.)

More like “Crappers”

I’m sticking to my pistols and occasional rifle.

Love to all my vanilla Engineers who’ve gone through so much pain and suffering over the past 4 years.

Base engi is still very good, scrapper is very good also. And despite the the supposed “nerfs”, gyro’s, turrets, gadgets, elixirs, can still be used, very well actually, just not in meta terms.

Times change. After we get kicked with heavy turrets nerf, I was stop eating my rolls if I was in pvp. After elixir infuse bombs dismiss, I was stop drinking coffee… But after elite spec introduce… I was must switch on my display.

If you love engineer, you always be good, because we have always some trick in our pockets. It’s impossible to balance this class and it’s impossible to destroy it. The hole between great engi and bad is really big. Scrapper only try to make a bridge over this hole.

Best class in right (carpal tunel) hands, worst class in slow hands.

So.. I start play scrapper. "

“Trust me I’m an Engineer!” – they say

While most may have changed to Scrapper, I’m proudly a condi Engi with PP and I deliver massive blows. Engi continues to be the most entertaining, all-round class in the game with new-old ways to make every battle interesting, diverse and fun!
