I think it is important to have a good rotation, that one should aim for, but could not find anything for the engineer. So what about this:

(6/6/0/0/2), Grenade Kit, Bomb Kit, Elexir gun.

1. Grenade Barrage
2. Blunder Buss
3. Jump Shot
4. Big ´Ol Bomb
5. Fire Bomb
6. Acid Bomb (cancel with “drop bundle”)
7. Shrapnel Grenade
8. Freeze Grenade
9. Blunder Buss
10. AA´ing Grenade and Shrapnell Grenade off cooldwon
1. Grenade Barrage
2. …

I really think, that this is far from perfect. Could you please tell me, what might be better or improve the rotation above.

Hello frands! Vee Wee here, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!

Vee Wee has 2 rotations! The first uses whatever powerful ability is off cooldown! If everything is on cooldown, use grenade autos!

The second is when Vee Wee is eating or watching a show or playing piano or guitar! Vee Wee uses rifle, puts 1 on auto attack, and alt tabs! Because only in PvEsports can you turn on auto attack, alt tab, and still win!

Wahoo! Bye frands!

Greets!

Pretty much what Vee Wee said. There is no need for a real rotation. Just buff before a fight, buff during a fight if it lasts longer, and try to deal as much damage as you can. Most important skills is Grenade Barrage. It deals the most active and passive damage. If there aren’t 25 stacks of vulnerability on the target: Use grenade 1 as a filler. If there are, use bomb 1 as a filler. Keep in mind that Blunderbuss is a bad skill if there are more than 3 targets to attack.

Yes, i can see your point.
But a rotation just manages cooldowns of those powerful abilities. So that you can use them as often as possible and don´t switch to e. g. Rifle or Grenade Kit and have to realize, that your those abilities are on cooldown.

Xyonon: Good hint with grenade or bomb filler. And Blunderbuss can just be left out, when fighting more than 3 targets.

Maybe it´s just me, but i feel a lot more confident, if i can use a pattern that assures not wasting too much damage.

And maybe i am just too new to engineer (reached lvl 80 yesterday) and realize in a few weeks, that you are totally right. :-)

Greets.

Hello frands! Vee Wee here, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!

Engineers are not like other classes where you use some strong attack and then mash 1 and then repeat! Engineers have many strong attacks all on different cooldowns! So when Vee Wee actually plays PvEsports, then Vee Wee just uses whatever strong attack is off cooldown! When everything is on cooldown, Vee Wee uses grenade auto attacks! This is why Engineer is so fun in PvEsports! When Vee Wee plays Elementalist, Vee Wee presses 1 and then 2 occasionally! And 5 occasionally! So boring!

Bomb AA has better dps then grenade AA. Rotation is one of the best imo. You can also skip that 9. Blunderbuss and use it later when also jumpshot is on cd because you lose dps on swap. You can also pretty much skip acid bomb or flip EG entirely for mines if you want more dps

I suggest you try D/F or S/F-LH ele the next time you play PvEsports Vee Wee! A lot more button pressing than the fire staff camping on immobile targets!

I would say ideally, you want to stack your might and vuln before using barrage (just my opinion as I haven’t bothered much with running numbers since I am too lazy to manually parse). Although I suppose this will depend on a few factors such as what you are fighting and where (open world, dungeons etc etc). At the end of the day I think the only rotation that really matters is being able to consistently pull off the might stacking both in and out of combat.

It’s important to use barrage in the beginning of a fight, beacuse it will stack vulnerability extremly fast. It’s the same reason why to use grenade auto and not bomb auto (looking in your direction Rozbuska).

You must think about the team dps, not about your own dps. Sure grenade barrage deals more damage if you first stack vulnerability with grenade 1, however the damage the team deals more because you started with barrage to stack vuln from the beginning is higher.
Bomb AA deals about 30% more damage than grenade AA. However grenade AA applies 3x as much vulnerability as the bomb AA. The passive damage is higher, since your team will deal more damage.

You have to use Bomb AA if the enemies are spread a bit, to hit them all with the higher splash. Or when the enemies are at 22-25 stacks vulnerability.

Valid point from the perspective of dungeon/fractal running for sure and if you are the only vuln stacker.

Yup, for solo bombs sure deal moarrr damage.

Btw “the only vuln stacker”: Take a look at the vulnerability stacks, especially against bosses. Without an engineer in my pt I’ve never seen a constant 25 stacks on vuln on bosses and often the vuln just spikes.

You using giver’s p/s and something like koi cakes? I tend to pug a lot these days and can’t decide if really dedicating myself to maximizing vuln is worth giving up rifle and what not for it since there are times when I am the only one left standing and I rather just finish the boss faster solo heh.

Koi cakes of course! Or soon – if the price comes down – the new bufffood wich grants also 40% condi dura, but power instead of condition damage.

Koi cakes grant 40% condi dura wich is converted into long lasting vulnerability stacks wich means, ultra tons of damage. If I see the stacks are too clearly 25, I’ll either go for other bufffood or use bombs instead of grenades. But most of the time the 2nd one

In PvE of course you are gonna take shrapnel most of the time if using the GK. The larger explosive radius doesn’t do much for you since you really only go into BK for the fire field for might stacking, and there really isn’t a better choice at adept. I suppose you could take EA but my endurance is full more than it isn’t in which case that trait is literally doing nothing most of the time. APT and EW are also extremely situational, since you rarely want to do any knockbacks on mobs if you can help it, though I suppose a case can be made for EW if you kite mobs that are not immune to cc effects.
Edit: I suppose the case for forceful explosives really will depend on whether or not you play with a group of people on a regular basis or not. Chances are if you do play with a group of players frequently you won’t need the extra radius unless you specifically are wanting to camp bomb kit because you don’t need the vuln stacks. Mileage may vary for each person, I just don’t find it incredibly useful.

Mainly because the fire field outranges the guards light fields for blast finishers during longer fights when traited. Also in fotm there are many parts where enemies just won’t stack perfectly, where the radius is needed and grenades won’t hit them all. Wall fractale for example when you bunker between the fire fields, or fire shaman endboss elementals, … Blind and root can become very handy in those situations too. In perfect stacking dungeons it is indeed less useful.

I only trait sharpnel on bossfights or places like the harpy fractal. It’s not a terrible trait, it’s just often overrated. The bleed won’t outdamage the 30% more damage of bomb 1 if there are enough vuln stacks on the enemy. Also don’t forget the bleeding cap wich is a pain in the kitten sadly…

The mainquestion is: IF you cannot make use of a bigger radius, would you take sharpnel for a 50 dps increase for 20 sec every 2nd grenade attack, or would you take the 5% damage with not full enduracne wich you also can provoke by dodging after an attack to proc the bomb for a dps increase. Wich would deal more damage in the end?
