When armor of earth or earth attunement (I don’t know which, but I think it’s earth attunement) are on an ele they can dissipate my nades and thrown elixirs.

There we have it, raw evidence of the most annoying bug in existence. This happens to me ALL the time. It’s insane how many fights I’ve lost because of this bullkitten. No one kittenin believes me either when I tell them about it except other engis. Totally ridiculous and so incredibly frustrating. As if I don’t have enough RNG to worry about, I don’t know when my nades are gonna hit a kittening ele….

I’m not really understanding what’s going on. He appeared to take quite a bit of damage. Armor of Earth, which is a utility (specifically a cantrip), is what he used. He gained protection and stability from it, as you could tell in the video. This mitigated the damage he would take by 33% but I still saw him take a lot of damage, and I saw the numbers on your screen. When he was downed and you were throwing nades, he vapor formed and didn’t take damage from much of your nades near the end there because of it.
What exactly is the problem that I’m missing? Did he not get hit by as many nades as he should have from grenade barrage?
Note that the ele almost certainly wasn’t trying to exploit anything – it’s all but a reflex of cantrip eles to use Armor of Earth when they start taking spike damage.
I agree with TimeBomb, you hit him pretty hard, which was pretty obvious, but with the use of protection he was able to withstand that – I don’t see any bug here.
Also, I noticed that you took damage while he was casting Earthquake – which you should not since it is channeling skill – so I would suspect some hidden skill like Magnetic Aura (reflect projectiles) or Arcane Shield (blocks up to 3 attacks then explodes). Both of these are available to Elementalist and both can be passively triggered (trait or rune + Arcane Shield is instant cast utility skill) so it might help him a bit – but I might be wrong, it is hard to see in all those effects.
the point is that the ele didn’t take ANY damage from my 2 grenade barrages. a full 16 grenades dissipate and deal no damage. Look closely at my abilities. As I walk into the ele (already at half HP) I switch to nade kit while casting grenade barrage. Nade barrage goes on CD signaling that it should have landed. The white circle on the ground (around the ele) is the AoE circle that grenade barrage creates, the only one of its kind in the entire game.
Furthermore, this bug also happens when not “inside” of eles. It’s happened before and it’ll happen again.

magnetic aura would have one shot me, I’m not kidding. Arcane shield would not have done ANYTHING at all, I cast sixteen grenades inside of the ele. Sixteen.
I delt ZERO damage with my nade barrages. Zero. Nothing happened. Nada. Not a kitten thing happened to the ele when I used the hundred nade combo
Might be a better example if can get this to happen where ele does not take any dmg from others. Is this something that happens all time or just sporadic?
It’s not obsidian flesh, that’s only with a focus offhand.
It’s very sporadic too. However, it happens enough to be a very large problem when I’m fighting eles… Not only does it happen when I’m attempting to hit eles, it also happens when I try to nade someone who’s next to an ele. Nothing like having your nades dissipate when an ele is rezzing someone because of a stupid bug.

Seriously guys. It’s a huge bug and I’ve lost games/fights because of it. This is getting kittening ridiculous, I am not the only one who has noticed it and it makes me lose my mind all the time because the most skill based weapon in the game becomes randomly nullified by a bug.
Safe to assume you posted about this in the game bugs forum?
I’ve noticed my nades just disappearing too, but never paid attention if it was to eles or not.. just thought it was terrain bugs >_>
It’s hard to see in the videos but it looks like every ele you faced that didn’t take damage from your grenades had frost aura on.It may be caused by some weird bug when someone has Frost Aura and the Protection boon on them or something else with Frost Aura since this bug started happening after Frost Aura was changed to “Incoming damage is reduced by 10% while under the effects of this aura. Enemies are only able to be chilled by this aura once per second.” Maybe the stacking reduced damage is somehow messing with grenades.
I got this bug today as well, happened when casting grenades at elementalists with the armor of earth effects.
I’ve exclusively had this happen with eles with earth attunement up. With lingering elements (15 up arcane) it makes it so that the earth attunement stays after they end up switching out of it, which makes the bug happen as well.
Extremely annoying.
If you want to get anything fixed it’s best to post it in the SPvP forum. That’s the one that gets the most proactive response from ANet.

Ok I’ve seen something similar a bunch of times over the past few days including just now – but it’s not just against elementalists. I just had it happen against a mesmer – I threw a bunch of grenades and they didn’t explode on the ground, no damage, no “invlun”, “miss” or anything and they go on cooldown.
Grenades do completely disappear on me in WvW quite frequently. I’ve always attributed that to client server sync issues though.
At 00:8 it’s really hard to see, because of the HUGE FLASH OF OMG WHITE all over the screen, but if you watch the FX on him he gains Protection the same tick you hit him, it also looked like (from what I could tell) that you weren’t quite inside him on the barrage, it kinda looks like a narrowly-fumbled 100 ‘Nade to me. :/ But either way, he did take quite a bit of damage off it. I have problems with Eles in Earth Attunement in general, they’re always a pain, I usually pretend to run away so they switch to squishy Fire attunement so that I can turn around and blast them in the face… ;P
Anyway I don’t play Elementalist very much at all so I am not aware of all the tricks in their toybox, but it doesn’t look like a bug to me so much as perhaps a lot of damage mitigation and a slight placement issue on your end. When I was playing around with 100 ‘Nades (RIP) I noted that the TINIEST bit of lag or even the slightest miscalculation on my end was the difference between all the opponent’s health, or taking only half of it. I’m sure you’re already aware of that, but if that’s the only example you have it might be difficult to convince ANet to look into it, I’m afraid.
