With the buffs to Healing Power scaling and Medical Dispersion Field, how much potential does a hybrid Burn+healing build have in usurping the typical potency of Rabid Flamethrower or Double Kit Condi in SPvP?

Right now I’m testing the following build :
(* non-meta or questionable choices marked)
P/P* + Settler’s Amulet
HT, FT, E.Gun, Rocket Boots*, Crate*
Balthazar* Rune, Sigils of Torment and Bursting*
Firearms 11*3, Alchemy 23*1, Inventions 3*33

*P/S with Inventions 133 has more defensive potential.
*Rune and Sigil choice leave some room for improvement.
*Rocket Boots and Crate could be switched for S and Mortar.
*weak synergy between Settler’s and Pinpoint Distribution.

The build plays very similarly to Burn-centric builds in that the goal is to apply several trash conditions before applying 10+ stacks of Burn and CCing the target. EGun 23, Pistol 235 into Incendiary Ammo, Rocket Kick, Blow Torch and Air Blast can and will apply 12~17 stacks of Burning behind 5~7 trash conditions. HT can be blasted by Flame Blast, Acid Bomb, and Detonate Turret, with Rocket Boots offering additional self-healing.

The major difference between this build and prior versions is the significant increase in self- and team-oriented healing, moderate gains in mobility and blasts at the expense of on-point defensive options and stomping capacity, and a general lack of cleave outside of FT1 with other minor sources.

My main questions are:
-is the build competitively viable with some changes?
-how can the build be improved?
-is there a future for E.Gun+FT or is the dream team Tools+S too important to sacrifice one or both for better team healing and offensive pressure?

To my understanding MDF only works with your heal skill, not any healing you apply. That pretty much kicks it back to the curb if true.

It works with all heals, even backpack regenerator.
The problem is, you get healed for 0 when on full health, and the trait is only checking for what you have healed yourself. Hence you spread 0 of your ticking heals most of the time.

To make this trait worthwhile, they shouldn’t check for how much we did heal ourselves, but for how much we could have healed ourselves (after taking poison / monk runes / similar stuff into consideration). Then we would actually spread 20% of all our heals, and that is quite a lot.

backpack regenerator’s combat log was always bugged, so it is not displayed properly.

it applies a hidden buff that lasts & refreshes itself every 10sec once a kit got equipped, so it actually keeps ticking when you swap out of a kit for the rest of this time.
Its heal does not get logged properly, so it’s invisible & only can be seen working by the green numbers ticking on your character.

the trait itself works, it’s just the logging part that is bugged.
also MDF is working as intended with it.

MDF does not work if you are at full health. If I heal myself at 100% health, the total healing done is 0 and 20% of 0 is still 0.

Strange quirk, for a trait to only work optimally if you put yourself in a specific amount of harm’s way. That said,

For a condition healer, with the restrictions and necessity for a trickling non-lethal injury upon your anatomy at most/all times,
is P/S + E.Gun + Tools + S too defensive for MDS to function well?
is P/P + E.Gun + FT + ____ too vulnerable?
Is there a healthy balance for offensive pressure and team healing that can be reached?

I’ve had plenty of success in Unranked Arena using the aforementioned build, but that’s hardly “proof” that the build is anything more than good at pubbing and catching people off-guard when they have 15 stacks of Burn on them during a knockback.

MDF does not work if you are at full health. If I heal myself at 100% health, the total healing done is 0 and 20% of 0 is still 0.

It depends on your point of view. You certainly applied healing it just had no effect. It’s a mark against the trait that it only counts healing you actually receive so in order to help your teammates you also have to be in trouble.

If it does work on any healing you give yourself though I can see how it would be a useful trait either way so it’s good that they upgraded it.
