Q : inventions against alchemy
Cleansing Synergy is NOT every 10 seconds because it triggers on heal skill, so you typically get it every 20 seconds on Elixer H or Healing Turret, where it simply adds an extra cleanse to the cleanses already granted by those abilities.
Ideally, Cleansing Synergy would combo well with the med kit which has the lowest cooldown healing skill, on top of many cleanses of it’s own, but the kit itself is poor performance and is pretty much universally hated.
So transmute is actually better on the cooldown since it doesn’t use your healing skill, and in PvP it is a fantastic defense against opponents that start the fight with a debilitating condition like fear or immobilize right at the start of a fight which lets you walk right out of the burst they were trying to land on you.
And the extra cleanses are really about the Alchemical Tinctures + HGH combo. Rather than getting one extra cleanse on your healing skill, you have two on-demand clenses from every elixer you slot because of both the skill and the toolbelt, and those elixers have lowered cooldowns.
It’s less prone to counterplay since people aren’t trying to block your thrown elixirs as actively as heal skills, and is a lifesaver against builds that only use one or two conditions that you can now clear off more frequently, like burn guardian, since you can space out your condi clears instead of bursting all three clenses at once on healing turret+ cleansing synergy.
Well here is a list of things about alchemy tree….
1) All Alchemy potions will clense 1 condition now even the toss potion skills which means each potion can clense 2 conditions (1 clense for drinking the potion and 1 clense for tossing a potion)
2) Elixir gun’s Super Elixir can turn all conditions you have into boons instead.
3) With HGH you can stack might more easily and extend Elixir gun’s Super Elixir field duration to clense even more conditions.
4) Every 15 seconds a condition you take is turned into a Boon instead which means every 15 seconds you have a free passive condition clense.
They are for different things entirely.
Alchemy is going to be universally better for boons and whatnot, and has more consistent condition cleansing. (Cleansing Synergy is never going to be usable on a 10s ICD unless we are counting AMR which got gutted. At most you’re going to see it on the 15s CD of a picked-up Healing Turret.)
Inventions is a much more niche trait tree, with a focus on regeneration spam and passively inhibiting damage or control effects through means of automated bomb dispenser and mecha legs. Also has bunker down which is a really good trait if you can manage to fit it into a build.
Giving your build would help understand your problem :T
some builds don’t need to choose between them because they both complement them well. Something like a condition or a power HGH build wouldn’t need to choose because both Inventions and Alchemy compliment each other and give you monster survivability, they’re like the Arcane and Water of Elementalists but more offensive and more less mandatory.
I like both. I prefer inventions over tools for pvp, but like tools for wvw. Alchemy is always a must for me.
