Is there any chance ANet is going to let us hold 1 and the grenades keep flying to one position?
Sometimes I like to stand there and watch them burn, but it hurts my fingers :-(

There was a datamined option that would force your AoE’s to automatically snap under your enemies position.
But that would be horrible for mortar on long range (slow projectile speed).

Also, as always with datamined stuff, no guarantee that it ever makes it into the live version of the client.

You might want to rebind 1 to a mouse thumb button or something.
Easier to spam them while running too, and can strafe to left as well..

Using pinky to tap 1 is not an option for me, as I bound dodge to shift as the first thing when I installed the game.

I suggested an option in a similar thread a few weeks back, where once you press 1, the targeting circle stays until you activate another skill, essentially you would select say grenade 1, and then only have to move the target circle to where you want, then fire, move, then fire, without the need to reactivate the skill. It wouldn’t be game breaking or OP, just allow engi players yo save their hands and have slightly quicker reactions to enemy movements, especially in pvp.

If you plan on playing an engineer a gaming mouse is mandatory. I noticed a lot less hand pain the minute I switched.

I think this is probably the best idea; just because the 1 skill is ground targeted doesn’t mean it can’t still auto attack and save our fingers!

You know, after years of actually pressing #1 in combat to throw grenades and finger-twisting like mad if I wanted to strafe left during that, I decided to change things up.

Bound my Mouse 7 key to do #1. What’s my Mouse #7 key? It works basically almost exactly like left click (I didn’t want to install any custom software or rebind my left click every time I start up gw2).

And it was the best convenience change I ever did for myself. CLicking to do autos with grenade kit / mortar kit is an insane, insaaaane help in quality of life and Carpal Tunnel avoidance, and I suggest any and all to find a similar setup for engies in particular.

(Personally using the following Mouse, but any with an alternative thing to click with your index finger should do. I suddenly don’t even mind that I can’t hold #1 down anymore. That little key southwest of the mousewheel on that picture is it.

Well I have Razer mouse/keyboard so I can macro any key to anything so it hammers 1 in intervals exactly for cast time, but ofc I’d be happier if ANet put out for the rest of the players.
The difference between mobility with/without this solution is enormous. Unless that was actually the intention of devs, to have grenades strong but you need to trade mobility for it?

Well, I’m not so sure mobility is meant to be a balancing grounds there in that manner, but rather being mobile and accurate at the same time.

That said, if datamines are true, well, we might get “snap ground target to currently selected target”, which will fix a lot of mobility issues anyway. And one can still do free-aimed shot without a target that way.

I wasnt suggesting a full on auto attack, thats too easy. What im suggesting is that once you activate grenade/mortar #1, you still aim with the mouse, and fire with left mouse click, but that the target reticule doesnt dissapear after you fire, essentially removing the need to continuously press #1, having grenades automatically fire at an opponents feet would be stupid, especially in pvp where more often than not you are aiming at where they will be in half a second or so.
