Quick Question: Armor Type?
Depends on your build.
I run Apothecary, for a healing condition build.
Maguuma – [TriM][DERP]
I decided to go rabid for toughness/condition grenade/bomb build
Power/Precision/Toughness/Vitality/Condition Damage FT/Turret build. Yeah, whatever is good. I just mow kitten down.
fans hate Joffrey. They hate her the way Star Wars
fans hate Jar Jar Binks.”-not a direct quote, but still true.
Rabid Gear is a good option to invest in since it works in about 99% of condition builds. Another good option for power builds is full knights or full soldier’s with berserker trinkets, or full Berserker’s with Cavalier trinkets.
Borlis Pass
Or rampager’s for hybrid power/condition builds.
there’s no set answer to a question that requires only an opinion.
As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.
Settler’s w/ Runes of Undead for HGH build. Doooo eeet!
Jumble Akimbo
Jahiliyya Akimbo
Cleric with Altruism runes here for Healing Support.
Rabid armor set and Carrion jewelry is a great combination that leaves you with a good armor:health ratio. Elixir gun and flamethrower go great with this.
Rampager is excellent when using a more power-centered build, such as bombs or grenades. Do not engage is melee combat in this.
Knight/Soldier is great for running turrets and a wrench, works wonders with elite elixir trolling.
The other combos don’t really work on an engineer. My own is using rampager grenades, but it’s likely I’ll get rabid/carrion for WvW soon.

Gotta disagree with you here, there are plenty of other combos that work. Supporty builds with the EG thrive with Apothecary gear, while supporty builds with elixir-infused bombs tend to fare better with Cleric’s (I use Cleric’s as a catch-all for both, but ideally I would actually use Apothecary’s). With the availability of on-crit procs, you could probably also justify Magi’s gear as well for either.
Sentinel gear is the ultimate defensive gear, and can be effectively used by any form of a bunker build.
Zerker gear with FT kit and proper traits can output some pretty hefty short-ranged AoE white damage. While it may be less than some other professions, it’s a very sizable AoE, which can often make the difference.
Some less common choices like Shaman’s could potentially work with specialized builds, possibly a defensive/support build that values the vitality mainstat of Shaman’s over the healing power mainstat of Apothecary’s or Cleric’s.
The only gear that I will dismiss as non-viable is Celestial, because the stat spread doesn’t give you good ability to do anything: you aren’t bunkery, you aren’t damaging, you can’t heal, you don’t have amazing boon duration to contribute, you don’t crit often and don’t deal much damage when you do, and just overall don’t get anything worthwhile out of it because everything is split so much.
EDIT: After seeing Forestnator’s posts in other threads, I won’t dismiss Celestial. I wouldn’t use it personally, but it works for him, and so it could work for you too potentially.

As u can see, celestial fits prefect.
