It was a fun thing to do, so it was only a matter of time before it was nerfed for no reason.

This was one of my favorite abilities in the game. So sad to see cliff hoping leaving. Luckily, I’ve been experimenting with ride the lightning (which isn’t affected by movement speed), and I’ve found it can almost go as far. My goal is to cross the chasm behind the lions arch portal in hotm. I’ve yet to succeed, but my character has gotten close. I just need to find the right angle…

Terrible, just terrible. Nerfing grenade range, nerfing the super speed leap… basically nerfing everything that makes the engineer unique.
Buffing conditions though! WOO! Might as well call us Necromancers.

Maybe now that rocket boots will no longer increase travel distance while affected by swiftness or super speed, ANet will increase the base travel distance a bit?

In any case, I wonder if this will mean you can actually cause yourself to move slower if you use rocket boots during super speed now. That would be quite hilarious and sad at the same time.

It’s a bit funny also that rocket boots cures movement impairing conditions but is no longer affected by movement impairing conditions.
I suppose it handles the uncommon situation where you get chilled or whatnot just after using the rocket boots, but that’s about the only benefit it gained from this.

I agree… If leap/dash are no longer affected by cripple of chill, the fact that rockets boots remove those 2 conditions is kinda useless.
IMO, it’s a HUGE nerf for rockets boots…. something which was not OP at all…
rocket boots are still good to escape rings, lines of warding and rockwalls (potentially also good to escape the DH elite trap and reapers)…

Getting rid of them still seems perfectly good to me. It means that after you use Rocket Boots you can move at normal speed, rather than going 900m and then being slowed to a crawl from an existing movement impair.

Yes, it’s still a useful thing to have. However, the original intent of having that there was to restore your mobility. Yet if they make a change to rocket boots to where it no longer cures cripple and chill, it actually doesn’t affect the distance you can leap with it anymore, which is a bit at odds with what the original purpose of the skill seems to have been.
I suppose it can make some thematic sense though, since you’re actually using some sort of propulsion system rather than simply jumping.
In any case, my concern is that the original purpose of rocket boots is now partially diluted, and the utility is technically a less powerful choice overall. Although perhaps that is a bit of a fallacy since there really isn’t an alternative skill that works like that.

Why nerf turrets that were just pretty roleplay toys in the first place?
Dear God, ArenaNet – who runs balance in your outfit? Do they play a thief that’s tired of getting blast-netted and gunned down? This is absolutely silly.
Why not just make players immune to control effects during dashes?

Nothing more annoying that rocketing out of a “hot” combat area only to get immobilized / chilled in mid-blast. With the speed that projectiles move at, most projectiles shouldn’t be able to track you while rocket boosting, but often that is not the case.

/cry I love map breakouts which do Mohamed to the game itself or other players experience. Especially on my own dedicated pvp map breakout server ( some dueling server without anyone on it :P). I recently figured out how to breakout of nifhel in a way I have never seen before and was unable to find on the internet because eod rocket boots. It does absolutely nothing to PvP balance because it’s long, difficult when being attacked, and useless In terms of points. In addition, leaping from cliff to cliff to save time or escape foes with rocket boots is a really fun feature of the engineer, and the difference gained by the velocity of one’s character as a projectile is marginal In the first place. Even if anet nerfs everything we will still find map breakouts, still troll people with leaps, and still not use rocket boots in competitive pvp. They are also removing counterplay to these leap skills as well as their power because of removing condition effects. These changes are terrible and / do not help anyone. They make this game less fun while expending valuable resources that should be going to use on fixing bugged skills!!!!!

second, all mobility skills are being changed such that your movement speed doesnt affect travel distance. engis simply get the worst end of the deal since its the only class with super speed and a long range true jump.

This game is slowly dying. Anet team claiming there will be many builds, truth is every player on this fail game just suck metabattle.com balls really hard. Casual Sheep pvp players everywhere in sPvP / WvW. All with same traits, same builds, same bullkitten gameplay (ex : Meditation Guardians everywhere, every single one playing ONE & unique build).
They failed at it very hard. So many players in game is thinking the same way, just waiting for another MMO. Not seeing this is lying to yourself.

Learn as much mending and medical info as possible so that it can be added to the Dream.
