I strugle to defeat as condi engi (usual nades toolkit build) any good ele in 1v1. Is it even possible? Any tips? Best tactic i figured out is just run or try to prolonge the defeat.
Land your Blowtorch after the Ele goes into Water Attunement! Eles have buttloads of condi removal so you’ll want to get the most out of your strongest condition!
Try to keep poison on them! Ele sustain is c-c-crazy! Remember you can Throw Wrench inside your Poison Grenade field for a poison projectile! And it hits twice for double the poison and cripples them for a cover condition!
Dodge Burning Speed and Fire Grab! It’s their two strongest attacks! All their other attacks are pretty weak in comparison!
Have Gear Shield ready when they go into Fire Attunement! As soon as you see them swap, it’s almost guaranteed to be Drake’s Breath or Burning Speed!
Try to land Static Shot right after you connect a Prybar! 7 stacks of confusion really hurts them since a lot of their sustain comes from just mashing skills!
Try to time your heal after you get hit with a long duration burn! Burning is a large chunk of their damage!
Don’t be afraid to get off the point and even let it go neutral! It’s better than keeping the cap for a few more seconds and then going down!
Become familiar with their rotations! Elementalists are pretty predictable! The standard rotation is Fire > Earth > Water > Air! Be wary of Earthquake when they swap to Earth! Be especially wary of Updraft when they swap to Air! If you get CC’d when they’re in Air, it sets them up for Fire Attunement damage! The bulk of their damage comes from their Fire skills!
“If all else fails, crate them on the head!” Hehekeke… Solid tactic!
They dodge forever, care not to mis, drop it in the last third of their dodge roll animation for a definite stun.
This is one of the few places where you should “hide” your poison behind other condis, poison FIRST at the start of the fight and then other condis, keep refreshing poison NO MATTER WHAT! If you struggle with this alot, get that Doom Sigil.
Finally I would say end it fast, if they get above 10stacks of might, you are most likely going to lose the fight.

Ok thanks, there are some realy nice tips i gona use in next ele fights. Bdw i use shield instead of offhand pistol, maybe thats what i would also need, 1 more burn.
Ele is currently one of the strongest classes, which also has great many tools against projectiles, which also has a good mix of condition spam and raw damage, which also has alot of cleanse, which also has immense sustainability.
So it’s normal to struggle against one of the strongest classes in PVP.
Also try to keep your interrupts handy for when they heal, assuming they’re using ether renewal. If you interrupt that thing, it can sometimes be a death sentence for them. They’ll generally try to cover it with stability, but they often won’t be able to do it all the time unless they’re using a specific trait. So don’t go running in there and use magnet first thing, and you probably shouldn’t need to pop magnetic shield for anything other than to knock him back.
If you wanted to go crazy, you could even bring the mine utility. The little ones you toss out also strip boons, so you can dump them on a node and let the ele run into them. Eles are generally very dependent on their boons, so if you keep taking them off, it’ll make it tougher for them. It’s definitely easier for a necro or mesmer to take that approach though.
