Hello guys, im running and intend to run this build in pvp and wvw, but i need an advice from you regarding gear.
My build is :
6/2/0/4/2 with p/s , r.boots, bomb kit, tool kit, and supp. crate.
Traits are:
Explosives: Forcefull Explosives, Incendiary Powder, Autodefense Bomb Dispenser
Firearms: Hair Trigger
Alchemy: Protection Injection, Invigorating Speed
Tools: Speedy Kits

The dilema is, should i go full rabid gear, full dire, or combination of both?
Its mainly for pvp and wvw.
While trying to run a full rabid in pvp i felt a bit vulnerable.

i run something similar, though my traits are a tad different. In WvW, I run either full zerk or Knight+Zerk. Bombs are pretty much power based. Zerk if you are use to dodging (dodge bombs, vigor on dodge traited of course)… Knights if your learning or take alot of hits.

Really depends on playstyle really. I use rifle with EG+bombs+TK. tho i swap out for stun break alot. I leap in. drop some bombs, AB myself out. I’m dodge and weaving around, so i can get away with Zerk most of the time. High risk, high reward. Other engs i know like to stand still and just drop bombs. They need tougher gear to take hits.

As for Dire/Rabid, etc, thats more for grenade builds than bombs, imho…

Dire armor and rabid trinkets. Then you have to ask yourself how much duration you want. You can use 2 giver weapons and the sigil that offers 10% condi duration, and double your condition duration while in wvw.

Ye, i think its a matter of opinion, im using full rabid with that setup and find it fine, except for the survivability as i said.
The point is if its better for me with this build to go for vitality or precision, assuming that i have only 2 points in precision, that i dont have enough crit anyway.

I run a very similar build, and use the same utilities as well. I’m full rabid except for one dire trinket and the dire ascended pistol I looted. I think that’s an excellent choice since you’re using Incendiary powder and the first Firearms minor trait, and your traits don’t give you much precision. I have something like 35-40% crit chance, and that’s really a minimum to take full advantage of these two excellent traits. If you are going for dire gear, I suggest you drop Incendiary powder and choose Short fuse (or whatever you like) instead.

You shouldn’t take both Autodefense Bomb Dispenser and Protection Injection. Because they conflict with each other. Your enemy will be blinded so he will miss his skill so you don’t even need protection from trait. If the enemy is not blinded that means bomb trait is not good enough and you should not even take it anyway.
