While it appears to be a small CC, I believe it is designed to put distant between you and the foe. A Distance of at least 750 (depending on terrain). Also the rifle is a ranged weapon and that adds some dynamics to it as well. Compared to banish which is Guardian hammer 4 which also knocks a foe back 750, it works the same way. The short CC is pretty much the same as a guardian. The hammer has a range of 130 so the guardian is also CC’ed until he gets close enough to hit the foe again. It’s probably a balance deal. #4 on a Ranger Long Bow, Point Blank Shot, only knocks back, based on how far the foe is away and its max is only 600 and does half the damage.

So you want to limit the criteria to only include this one skill you have a problem with? Skills that have powerful effects sometimes need to include downsides. Otherwise the effect itself would have to be nerfed.
Overcharged Shot is one of the best things about the rifle. Learn to use it properly and you’ll change your tune.
Rifle #4 is pretty good…instant-cast ranged knockback that also clears you of immobilize/cripple/chill? If they’d got rid of the self-cc, they’d have to add a cast time or something else unpleasant…
Love that skill. 450 launch is great even when outnumbered it is worth it. One of my favorite things about rifle.
What CC? Use rumble first.. or maybe even healing myst – rumble – powershot ^ ^
overcharged shot and net shot are the best skills on the rifle. you crazy dog.
Well it self cc’s you a bit. That’s not a big deal, since it gives you more distance. Other weapons and skills have too some self cc in other ways:
Time Warp has a downside, it’s an Elite Skill.
I think 100k-300k damage is quite ok for an elite…
But you were saying that, compared to the other Quickness skills, it has no downside. I’m saying that the downside to it is the much longer CD than the other Quickness skills.
I was saying that it has no negative effect on the affected targets like other quickness skills.
That makes a lot more sense.
Anyways, back on topic, Overcharged Shot, in my opinion, is one of the best launches in the game, and doesn’t need changing at all. Well, they could change it so that it can’t be reflected, but that would be stupidly OP.
I really wouldn’t complain. Overcharged shot is a launch, and the self knockback extends the gap between you and your ennemy even more while curing movement impairing conditions. Seriously, what’s not to like?

The projectile isn’t visible, but yes, it can be reflected. I know from experience. When that happens, not only do you get hit with the self-knockback, but you get hit with the launch as well, which means you still create a gap between you and your target, but not how you wanted to.
Removes immobilize, love it… coupled with magnet pull and BoB you can keep someone on their back for a very a long time.
