What do you guys prefer on a Celestial Roamer Engi?

Obvious you will be DPSing and controlling better on the Rifle.

But the defense on the pistol/shield is so useful.

In WvW I prefer rifle. With the ground you often have to cover there, I find it more useful. I do always run tool kit in WvW for the block at the very least though.

In PvP I much prefer pistol/shield. The extra blocks are nice of course, but you also have to consider its offensive capabilities vs. rifle. It has a fairly low cooldown blind/confuse, supplemental poison (assuming you have poison from either grenades or elixir gun or sigils as well) and a blast finisher/knockback on shield.

I have tried both rifle and pistol/shield with a celestial amulet in PvP, but the celestial stat combo always feels somewhat flat to me. I prefer rabid, but if I were running celestial my choice of weapon would be the same. I think it mostly boils down to how you prioritize condition damage vs. direct damage. Both are effective, even with a celestial amulet, but rifle is going to offer more in the way of direct damage and pistol offers more condition. Just play with both and see which you prefer; I don’t think there’s a “right answer.”

But mainly I am pistol/shield I feel it’s the strongest all round set you can have. used well it has more variety meaning you can face different professions easily.
but it’s all how you play.
that being said main weapons fill a niche not the norm. you shouldn’t spend a lot of time on them anyway.

with celestial rifle for the direct dps , with rabid i prefer pistol pistol

Celestial is better for a power focused hybrid! If you wanted to focus more on condi, there’s really no reason to run celestial! You can just run condi stats and be way tankier and dish out more damage! Use rifle!

Rifle almost all of the time but if Rangers are driving me mental I just run condi with shield because reflect op.

I’ve always loved pistol. If I’m going pure condi, I will always use pistol, its just a no brainer.

But, I recently have been really enjoying celes rifle. Great for finishing.
