Ruby orb/Runes ?
Altruism procs off using your healing skill (6). This means dropping your Healing Turret, chugging Elixir H, or swapping to the Med Kit—the latest of which is the most appealing.
4x Altruism is a viable choice – 3 stacks might for u and your mates every time u use healing turret. Also 15% boon duration is imo better then 20% might duration in PvE (PvP onyl 10% boon duration on runes available).
Also Divinity Runes fit well but aren’t cheap.
Yeah, 4x Altruism is fine, but I personally think that the group Fury is the best part of the rune set.
Fury is only 5 sec – it’s viable but … yeah 5 sec.
So you could have 4x Altruism and the Trait Enhanced Performance and get 6 stacks of Might every time you pop a healing skill, correct?

^ Yes, I have 2 Altruism, Enhanced performance, and a sigil of battle. In combat, I get 9 stacks of might just toggling my healing kit. I get 6 out of combat. I chose to go with 2 Altruism and 4 rabid orbs but the same would work for rubies. When I go with juggernaught, it’s not uncommon for me to sit at 15+ stacks in combat. I usually have a tough time finding room for a FT in my build though.

Thats the hardest part indeed, fitting all i like in a bar. I usually try to go with the situation but still, i would love to have my 3 kits at all time but then, i lose on utility and life saving gadgets.
Its the hardest part of being an engineer… choosing what to pick up for a fight.
so i tried 4x altruism and 2x water and it do work really well right now.
I run around with my FT in my hand to gain free might stack and when i enter combat i often go Ft#2 , switch to mekittenit, switch to tool kit and pry bar. I usually hit with 13 or so might stack and i can start doing some fire combo and get around 16-17 solo.
The 30% duration is good for my swiftness, vigor, might and fury from mekittenit (16 sec with rune).
In dungeon groups I’ve always got 6x Altruism.
In WvW I swap out for 4x Altruism and 2x Ruby Orbs, but that’s because I’ve got goggles and medkit5 on hand for fury so I get more outa the Orbs.

I’m curious now. I’ve heard a couple times that Ruby Orbs is the way to go. Is that really the case? I was always under the assumption that Superior Runes gave you the best stat boost. Not so at all? Is it just preference?

5 seconds of Fury is pretty great if you ask me, especially since his build would have 45% Boon Duration with 30 in Alchemy (the other 15% from Altruism) for a total of 7 seconds. With a 15 second cooldown.
How is 50% upkeep of Fury on your entire group unimpressive?
