Wahoo!
Many people think the 6th bonus of the Superior Rune of the Berserker would be buggy since they do not gain 5% condition damage as stated in the tooltip.
There is a difference between “Condition Damage” and “Condition Damage” in this game since HoT. There is the normal condition damage, wich is a stat that you can see in your hero panel. And new there are modifiers for conditions, wich are – unfortunately – also called condition damage by the game.
As you can see in the video, applying the 6th Superior Rune of the Berserker to my head gear does NOT directly increase the stat “Condition Damage” in my hero panel. Yet I now have the modifier of 5% additional damage with conditions applied.
Without the 6th bonus I have 1412 condition damage and deal 1050 damage per burning tic.
With the 6th bonus, still 1412 condition damage, yet 1102 damage per burning tic.
1050 * 1.05 = 1102
The rune is perfectly fine and works properly.

Thanks for the PSA. I think it was fixed stealthily, because I tested the same way you did 2 months or so ago, and then tested about a week ago and it’s now working…I’ve been using them on a Hybrid-ish WvW Reaper build for roaming/havoking since then. Before I was using sup rune of Elementalist, but went back to using Death Perception over Dhuumfire and needed a different rune, so tested Zerker rune again…
Thanks for posting this, I’ve been using runes of the berserker under the logic of “it was in the patch notes a while ago and haven’t seen anyone complain about it”, but I wasn’t actually sure it was fixed lol.
As an aside on the “condition damage” thing, the “condition damage” in sigil of bursting is not the same as in rune of the berserker. Bursting will increase your condition damage stat by 6%, which actually isn’t very good. On condi engineer you will gain much more damage from using sigil of geomancy instead (ofc paired with sigil of malice). Just in case some people still don’t know this. Enjoy your ~10g in savings.

Yes bursting increases your main stat condition damage by 6%. The current ratios and base damage of each condition makes this approximately a little bit less than 6% more damage with conditions. Let’s say 5%, since that’s what ANet most likely wanted to achieve to balance it with it’s power version – Force.
Superior Sigil of Geomancy is ~1600 dps for a full buffed condi engi. In order to say that Bursting is better than Geomancy, the condition damage part of the condi engi (20%:80%) must be increased my more than 1600 damage via 5% higher damage. This means the condi engi would have to deal 32’000 dps just with condis. Including power damage this means 40’000 dps. Wich is impossible.
Therefore yes, I 100% agree with your statement that every condi engi should take Malice and Geomancy as their sigils … unless ofc you are a lucky kitten and got all ascended viper trinkets from the raids Then you go for Bursting and Geomancy.

Haha yeah, I was writing under the assumption that you would actually need to use sigil of malice to cap condi duraton. I’ve been lucky enough to get a ring from VG…maybe if I get more luck from VG and Gorseval I can do it! Or if the Gorseval trinkets are made non-unique like the VG ring two of those+1 ring+ammy would only be slightly below cap (99.7% assuming my spreadsheet doesn’t suck)…pretty sure it’s all just a pipe dream though unless they make ascended trinkets craftable/buyable, lol
