Loudmouth, lousy PvPer, and mediocre PvEer.
I don’t own, I just play
I know this is related to something other than the engineer class in general, but this has our name and by the Mists, I’ll talk about it here!
Alright, Rune of the engineer seems to be used for a condition/toughness build. Right?
Then, why in the world would you make the 6th rune a 5% damage bonus instead of adding condition damage or some condition effect?
I don’t want to mimic any other rune, and the idea of getting a boost when carrying a bundle is kinda cool.
Here’s my idea to make the Engineer rune more . . . Engineer-y.
+200 Toughness when carrying a bundle; OR
+100 condition damage when carrying a bundle
Anyone? Eh? Eh? Sounds like an improvement to me. Right?
one of the most common complaints has been about how weak our kit damage tends to be. it seemssto me like engi rune 6 is specifically to compensate. also, touch and cond help all engi builds.
They’d might as well change it to something that actually relates to it’s name. It’s not like anyone is using rune’s of the engineer.
I can’t recall but doesn’t it state “unarmed bundle.” Like medkit. Could be wrong it’s been ages since I’ve been to the mists.

I think you might be thinking of Leg Mods, which provides 10% movement speed while carrying an unarmed bundle. And for those purposes, unarmed bundle refers to Med, Grenade, and Bomb Kits. But not Elixir or Flamethrower Kit. I.e., are you hands empty?
Regarding the Rune of the Engineer, it seems underpowered to me, but not too badly underpowered. Rune of the Engineer gives 165 Toughness, 57 Condition Damage, and 5% damage bonus (122 raw stats plus 5% damage). By comparison, I’m using Ruby Orbs, which give 12% Crit Dam, 120 Power, and 84 Precision (124 raw stats plus 12% crit). They seem comparable, assuming you are interested in that stat allocation.

All of them? What if I’m making a glass cannon rifle engy?
It’s one of those runes nobody uses, because there’s better alternatives for every build.
to be honest: it’s a big oversight that any ability ‘increasing damage of x’ be it turret or kit, is only effecting it’s naked (power) damage.
These effects should work like might and increase BOTH power and condition damage.
The 15% trait on FT and EG is a great example: it only increases EG power damage… one of the signature condition auto-skills we have, even more so than pistols #1…
Fix this and the runes suddenly make sense

oh im sorry that the one spec that uses neither kits nor conditions doesn’t fit these runes, i hadn’t thought of that, never mind the majority of specs that do.
you are right though, it is hardly ever used.
i see the class runes (fighter, engi, mesmer, scholar, etc) as niche anyway, given the 6pc on set like the shout from the soldier rune and the crit scholar rune, they are otherwise ALL very generically stat allocated for that class. engi is no exception. the class runes are all very generic to fit as many builds within that class as possible.
not every warrior uses shouts either.
Was thinking about rebuilding my engineer and change to armour that give condition damage, Toughness and Precision then the question is what to use for runes, my idea is 5 Rune of Lyssa + 1 with +28 condition damage or 5 Rune of the Engineer + 1 with +28 condition damage or 6 Rune of Divinity.
6 on Lyssa: When you use an elite skill, lose all conditions and gain all boons for 5 seconds. feel like yea that i do 1 every day so pointless.
And 6 on Rune of the Engineer give +5% damage while holding a bundle. with am not sure what it meen but my guess is if you use flametrower or grenat you get 5%.

all kits count as ‘bundles’ in this game yes. So Flamethrower, grenades… and bombs, tool kit, elixir gun and even med kit.
As for the 6 runes of Lyssa: it would be great if used with supply crate. Simply because you use supply crate while you continue to fight normal. It is not an elite that changes what you do like elixir X, Mortar or the racial elites.
And if you only use supply crate once a day, you either are wasting it, or you simply only play 3 minutes a day
Not saying you need it while questing and exploring, but on most other stuff it’s dam usefull.
The sad part is: I think those 6 runes of Lyssa still don’t proc on supply crate… for some reason it doesn’t count as an elite for those runes.
Maybe they fixed it, but last that I heard it still didn’t work.
The Rune set is Boring.
Like most the Profession specific Rune sets.
Pure stats should have gone to the other w/e named runes and Profession runes should have been made more fun.
Like
Rune x4 5% chance to summon Rifle Turret on attack.
Rune x6 Remove 20global CD from KR.
Something fun like that.
