So last night I decided to play a modified build based on a complaint in the PVP section.

I took mortar, Lyssa runes, Elixir C, FT, EG, p/s, Inversion Enzyme, Iron blooded, Kinetic battery, and bunker down.

I was able to tank pretty well. I like iron blooded over HGH on bunker builds because you can easily get 10% damage reduction when you convert boons. Throw in the shield buff with armor and you can get your reduction down to 43%. Very nice against mesmers or necros.

I used sentinel which doesn’t pair well with condition based weapons but I was just seeing how much I could bunker. I was able to hold a point 1v2 for awhile. I might slot rifle and tweak it a bit.

I would say that we honestly have some good options for condition cleansing now other than Turret or Alchemy Minor 3.

Thoughts?

Very interesting. Is there some synergy with the flamethrower or could you pretty much swap that for anything?

Healing turret I assume?

I don’t really get why you’re running Kinetic Battery with this. Are you just trying to max out condi clenses as much as possible?

Given that you only have about 12% crit rate with this (Maybe a bit more, you neglected to mention what your sigils are) You’d also have questionable benefit from Bunker Down.

If you’re going to be using flamethrower in what’s supposed to be a bunker build, why not swap tools for firearms, and take high caliber, no scope and juggernaut? You’ll have a higher uptime of might, stability and fury to squeeze some more use out of Iron Blooded, and you’ll have an effective 30-50% crit with the flamethrower AA for getting reliable procs of bunker down. Plus it’ll be harder to knock you off point.

Otherwise, if you’re going to insist on tools, I think you’d be better served taking Tool Kit over flamethrower. The three second block on a 16-20 second cooldown alone should be better for bunkering than an untraited flamethrower. You lose some burning, but if you have zero condi damage it’s not much of a loss. Granted, that’s less hits, so if you were depending on the 10 hit flamethower AA just for bunker down, you might need to run intelligence sigils to make that work.

Well if you are camping in flamethrower you will be quite durrable, but the meta is heavily burst focused and you won’t be able to do much with flamethrower. Maybe run runes of Mercy and res your allies as they go down, then you are both keeping the point uncontested and making sure your allies stays alive. It should be viable once guardian quickness shout gets nerfed (that thing makes it impossible to stop stomps).

The thread was more about the amount of cleansing we could put out. I switched up the build, and it looks something like this

You basically have perm regen which means you get the +250 to healing. With the burst meta, the toughness, armor, and iron blooded will help. Since P/S is condition based then you can benefit from the conditions. I played around with this last night and it was a bit better than two nights ago. I can cleanse and heal pretty well. I agree that you could switch out Elixir S for tool kit for more blocks but I like the stealth aspect.
