Scrappers have no profession mechanic in PvE
Maybe give the function gyro a third use?
1. Finishing downed enemies.
2. Res downed teammates.
3.
What could be the third?
Ok, so you’re argument that we have “no profession mechanic” in PvE is flat out wrong and it’s pretty clear that it’s just a poor use of rhetoric to veil your real grudge, which is that you don’t like a mechanic that focuses on reviving players.
So don’t b.s. Just say that you don’t like the focus on reviving and skip the lies.

We already have a utility that rezzes players, throw elixir R. It does so on up to 5 allies, clears 1 condition per second, is a lightfield (so even more condi clears), can not be damaged, has a 1.2k range, rezzes faster than the function-gyro & even rezz ourselves if thrown right before we go down. Together with HgH & tools it can be used every 70 seconds, clears a additional condi and grants might+vigor on impact. If kinetic battery is equipped as elite trait, it can be used every 40sec, or twice in short succession every 70 seconds.
We already can rezz players way more efficiently than scrapper if we want to.
So unless stomping suddenly becomes extremely important in the HoT PvE side of things, OP is right: we don’t have a “unique, gameplay-redesigning” class-mechanic for our elite spec.
Since the f-gyro performs inferior to our existing utilities & comes with nothing but 5 mightstacks + superspeed on successful stomp/revive to make an argument for itself, a-net failed to meet their design goal for 1/3rd of the game.
So IF I want to revive allies frequently, I pick elixir R, tyvm.

Maybe it could attempt to heal us when we are down? Using Bandage will summon a gyro. That way it has some sort of selfish effect.
Maybe the gyro could “carry” us, letting us move while down?
Dead gyros leave scrap behind wich can be gathered by the funcion gyro to reduce all gyro CD’s by X% or a flat amount of seconds. (this in addition to the current function gyro, to fill the lack of pve functions of the function gyro)

you should get 3 of them that each take 1 ICD to produce. For each one you got you get some buffs. If you use one for rezzing or stomping you loose the buff. There.. mechanic, pulled straight out of my backside without much thought. Still better then the function gyro..

So?
What exactly are you replying to?
Because everything you just posted has nothing to do with what I said.
Nothing you posted makes any point towards showing that F-Gyro has no mechanic for PvE.

This is the best point that can be made against the mechanic of function gyro.
It speaks volumes when you have a single utility that out functions and entire Elite Specializations mechanic.

He is saying that effectively or functionally it has no profession mechanic, not literally, and in those terms he is right. Scrapper has a lot of good points but the elite profession mechanic is the worst of all the classes.
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro

Seems to me that what this really says is Throw Elixer R needs a massive nerf.

I can see why you would say that. The funny thing is though, that it would seem it is rarely used because the other utility skills are used instead of it. Now I say this based on my experience of what I have seen of the engineer community in game and on the forums. I have not spent time on all 72+ servers to know that for certain. But in my antidotel experience, I almost never see it used at all.
If a skill is not strong or valuable enough to be utilized over that of other utilities, I do not see a logic in nerfing it.
This conversation becomes kind’a childish now … let’s better go back to topic:
The function gyro has limited uses in PvE, this is true. We can only use it after someone made a mistake, to ress him/her. Yet what can we do to our enemies with it? I can’t think of something special right now … I guess I struggle to think of something new because of how it activates. I have to target something ranged and press “F” on range? Hm … maybe more could be done with another button, F6, weapon swap button while not using a kit or something…
Actually weapon swap while not using a kit sounds pretty good! Like to overcharge the weapon one does use right now, giving the next skill 2-5 an additional effect while under the effect of “function gyro” You know? The “heat thing” we’ve always wanted.

Function Gyro is very good for raids.. you can revive your teammates without stopping, etc

You didn’t play Scrapper much did you?
It has about 10k health, or close to it (for scale reference a bone minion on Necro has about 20-30k health)
I couldn’t revive people at the Wyvern boss fight.
I couldn’t revive people in any dungeons. I couldn’t revive them if the enemy had any meaningful AoE. I couldn’t revive anyone in PvP as people were already attacking the downed body or halfway through stomping it. Functionally it was useless. Even more useless in raids, where 99% of the enemies have VERY large AoE attacks and instantkill AoE abilities. Furthermore, people going down in raids isn’t something that is supposed to happen and just happens occasionally, usually people are downed en masse, at which point Function Gyro has its function completely outclassed by Elixir R.
Function Gyro is a joke. Don’t act like it’s some secret OP because you want to be a hipster.

PSA: Throw elixir S on downed allies to drop their aggro.. Works in pvp to stop finishes as well
anyways, the gyro is still pretty useless imo as well, I don’t really understand what they’re trying to accomplish with scrapper, but let’s hope it turns out good & useful some day

Also, so many people quoting my post that still are reading right past what I said…

nice, another entry for our bug-list.
I used to run it against the first boss in SE p3, tough that’s ages ago…
Function gyro should be able to travel to the bank/tp/merchant/mf whenever you’re in lions arch so you don’t have to move around. It’s is a function gyro after all, so pls make it function.
