Q:
I just recently go into the Engineer and I can’t seem to finalize ona good spvp build. I tried searching the Eng Forum but its pages upon pages of people complaining. So I figured Id just ask outright.
I have noticed Engs use Turret Builds
Im leaning towards wanting a Bunker Build

Engineers are not as good at bunkering as guardians or eles anymore, but we can do pretty well at it while having more control over a point. Most defensive builds are kit heavy (3-4 kits), while a couple use turrets/knockbacks. Engineers lack sheer volume of evades, blinds, and blocks, so engineer bunker basically means using a lot of cc to stay alive.
There is no standard engineer bunker build anymore. There are still a few people who regularly run a defensive engineer in tournaments. Most use a completely unique build.
I use support / survivor build, copy and paste link:

Its 4 kit build with pistol / shield. A bit hard to play but 2v1 (if there is not heavy stuner and heavy dps) is kinda ok, you can 1v1 get a point at least neutralized cause of crowd control.
I used to be able to bunker fairly well with the elixir gun before it got fixed (although I didn’t actually know it was bugged at the time). I guess only eles are allowed to heal that much without having to use a heal skill.
Bombs are fairly common for bunker builds as well since you get BoB and you can really take an edge off of thieves or other people who try to bully you off the node. They can also be useful against people chasing you, but obviously won’t work well against people who decide to strike you from outside the node.
Rifle can also be an interesting choice because you can still put up decent ranged offence while causing the opponent to endanger themselves by getting closer, and you have a very low-cooldown blowout and immobilize on it. I’d experiment with it if you haven’t to see if you feel it fits you better than pistol/shield.
If the box of nails from the toolkit was even close to the thieve’s caltrops, it would work quite well for keeping people off nodes. I usually use it for the block, prybar, and pulling people around.
I tried using elixir U for awhile for the projectile defence, but it just wasn’t reliable. Although if you use this, know that you can stand inside your wall to reflect/block projectiles from both sides.
Lately I’ve ditched using bunker builds and tried something more offensive, which I just liked better. I haven’t played around with turrets much though (eles just always seem to outright wreck them for free).
Personally I use this for my bunker setup and I can hold 2-3 without problems.
Traits: 0/0/30/30/10
0/0/I, VIII, IX/ VI, X, XII/ IV
Weapon: Rifle
Amulet: Shamans amulet with a Cleric jewel
Runes: 6 Svanir runes
Sigil: Sigil of Energy
Utilities: Med Kit / Elixer Gun / Flamethrower / Elixer R / Supply Crate
Tips:
1. Dodge whenever possible, you will get energy back whenever you swap kits because of the sigil of energy proc.
2. Flamethrower removes a condition on swap (with a 4-6 second cooldown I believe, not sure on exact number).
3. While invul in the svanir rune proc, you can swap to elixer gun for a quick heal, then dodge out and use your toolbelt heal to get back up to max HP (Your toolkit heal will automatically recharge when invul, as it syncs well with the traits setup).
4. You have access to multiple knockbacks with this setup, however if you wish to be slightly more tanky, you can use p/s and change the inventions VII trait to VIII.
5. This build has excellent condition removal, but it still struggles with high burst from thieves. Watch out for those buggers ^-^
If you have any questions on how to run this build, or have questions about anything else feel free to PM me ingame or here.
Cheers,
Vöz

I’m definately not a professionnal on bunkers but I’d have gone with something like this:
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mMMM9cz0mGCFMmGCFM0GaGGmRozmoR8khs7070M7khs707kuW70V7owY8ofy
In short: CC spam, Gear Shield on 16s cooldown, cripples, perma-swift and nearly perma-vigor, Invulnerability triggered by a trait and your Elixir S. I suppose the Slick Shoes could be changed for an Elixir C if the conditions are really a problem, or Bombs if you’re really into them, which would require to move these 20 points from Firearms to Explosives.
Check out the tankCAT thread. I use it as a tanky build and it gets the job done very, very well.
