Right now I’m running a pistol/shield, condition dmg + toughness based engineer, which I have found to be pretty decent for pve and dungeons. I ran the dual pistols + elixirs build for a while, and it was fun, but not as effective for dungeoning in my experience.

I’d like to stick with this basic idea of a high-survivability, well-rounded engi with decent dps and support capabilities, I would just like to crowdsource some fine tuning.

Superior runes of the undead on all armor pieces, due to the nice cond/tough boost.

As far as skills go I switch between various elixirs depending on scenario. The utilities above I generally use for dungeoning [F2 especially]. I know the flamethrower is pretty underpowered, but I dig it. Although I am certainly open to change.

My real questions are:
Is condition dmg + toughness a viable stat focus [seems to be fine for me]?
Is there something better out there than the runes of the undead for my purposes?
As far as acquiring dungeon armor, should I go straight for the cond/tough/whatever, or should I balance it out with some vitality?
A better set of utilities?

I assume you use flamethrower for the toolbelt skill, not the actual kit. Utility googles are a waste if you dont have more abilities that trigger on critical. Elixir R is not something you need all the time. Some of these can be replaced with Elixir B & Elixir U if you want to increase your condition damage.

Or if you want to be more helpfull on a team, consider focusing on Elixir Gun instead.

P.S. You should get some condition removal too

Last night I actually respec’d a bit and put my 10 in alchemy to explosives, making utility goggles more worth it. I also mostly use the goggs and elixer R for the toolbelt skills, and the latter almost exclusively in dungeons. I also decided to nab the SE dungeon armor to balance out my high toughness with some vitality.

I use jewelry with cond dmg and vitality. My armor is condition damage/precision/toughness. Runes are condition/toughness (undead I think)

I like the speedy kits for 100% up time swiftness obviously.

I like kit refinement for the super elixir X2, box of nails X2 (sometimes I swap tool kit in for confusion, box of nails, extra block, and pull).

I use BoB for CC more then anything, the damage is just a great bonus in my eyes. I do us the static shot and concussion bomb in tandem to keep a lot of confusion up, it is one of my favorite damaging conditions.

Rocket boots are great for the burn from the tool belt skill, side benefits over other stun breakers. The side benefits I love about it is that it gets me a range of 900 away from my enemy, and best of all, it does AoE damage upon use. On occasion though, I will swap out for elixir R for revive/stun breaker combo.

Explosive shot is great AoE damage when used properly

Poison dart volley can keep poison up on a single target 100% of the time.

Static shot is spectacular for tagging mobs, AoE confusion, AoE blind.

Magnetic shield is spectacular to make ranged enemies pay for it, the reflect is great. Magnetic inversion, AoE knock down, whats not to like.

Static shield, great defense for attacks with counter stun and block, Throw shield, great ranged damage X2, interrupt, and stun.

Poor craftsman blame their tools. Poor players blame their Engineer.

I run dual pistol/alch build.
Traits are 10 in explosives for the chance to burn on crit
30 in firearms for range, CD, piercing bullets
30 in alch for CD, Duration and depends on the situation

I use Healing elixir, the buff elixir, quickness elixir, elixir gun.

I use Carrion crafted armor for Vit, Power, Cond Damage, along with Coral jewerly for Power, prec and cond damage, I use the Ascended Backpiece of the Rubicon that is Cond Damage. All with runes of the undead, sigils of corruption and air

I do just fine in dungeons with this setup, I usually die fewer times than all party members. I can also throw out quite a bit of healing with Throw Elixir H, Elixir gun tool belt skill, and Super Elixir on the Elixir gun.

I would love to find, Vit, Toughness, Cond Damage, or trying the new Apoc runes that are Healing, Tough and Cond Damage. My biggest problem is giving up the small up front damage I have to go all Con Damage and reducing my power to next to nothing.

Condition damage/toughness/precision gear is great for a pve condition engy. Also half of my accessories have vitality on them just for a little more health.

For runes, i run with rune of the centaur and do fine. But i did use undead runes before which were also great.

My build is 0/30/0/30/10
Infused precision, rifled barrels, fireforged trigger
Invigorating speed, protection injection, backpack regenerator
Kit refinement

Pistol/Shield
Med kit, Elixir Gun, Bomb kit, Elixir U/R, Supply Crate.

Basically it’s big survivability, big self and group healing, big enemy debuffs and big party buffs.

I sacrificed damage, but i gained fantastic group support and i love it.
