Anyone try running with this armor rune? With my Condi Engi, I typically just run Superior Rune of the Undead and two pistols (WvW mainly).

I crafted the Defender Runes (bought everything on TP), and I can see some advantages.

The ability to proc 5 sec of Aegis (10 cd) by use of a heal skill is not bad. I’m typically dropping a turret when I’m in trouble anyway. Wiki also says that: “The bonus 6 heals for 3920 + 0.6 * Healing Power at level 80.”

And Tool Kit number 4 is also another available block.

I run them on my s/d troll build with armor mods.
together with the blind-spam I put out, it’s more survivability than one would expect from a glass-cannon.
it basically goes like this:
>get hit
>proc aegis
>block the next hit
>proc defender #6 + #2 (heal 4k + 2sec regen)
>proc defender #4 (aegis)
>block the next hit

the double-aegis is perfect to mess with most burst-rotas, and together with analyze from utility-googles + the blind immunity itself, this neat little combo is a natural thief-buster.

i picked a set up last week to give a try and also running it with SD and like kittening jesus its turned SD in to my favorite build to use now.

My concern would be that in short fights the heal gets wasted due to getting procced when you haven’t received any major damage yet. In theory, you should have enough blocks (heal & gear shield) to use the rune without Armor Mods. Though I have to admit, double Aegis proc seems funny.

I’m running it with my P/P Celestial roaming build! The rune is amazing is to play with!! The 2th bonus gives me 2 second of regen for each hit, with no cd on it, so when that rapid fire hits, or fighting against more then one, your regen uptime is out of the roof!
I feel like toolkit gear shield is more then enough blocks to make it worth it!
The Ageis on heal is a sweet bonus if you can time using your heal just before something nasty hits you! And often something nasty is about to hit you when you are low on hp
and the 6th bonus is healing me like 4300-4400 every 30 sec which is amazing! Just all in all I’m total in love with that rune + healing turret, cause the sustain is insane! I have had people that burst me to about 40-50% hp and I just heal full up, making them ragequite the fight!
