My main was an ele but i’ve decided to leave it untill the class gets fixed. So i’m liking the engi alot because it has similiar game mechanics.
To the question: Are engineers still viable? I’ve heard they got nerfed on the december 10th patch. Did they get hit hard? I’m looking to play a condi or bunker engi. I mostly play sPvP and WvW roaming.

For pvp for me it is great. I changed from elementalist too and eng is really strong. You have only to learn becouse even if the mechanic seems similar there are many difference and there are many combos you can do. I play with power condition build and 3 kits (30,0,0,30,10) . I don’t hit hard but if you add the condition damage the damage is good and you put great pressure on your opponent. Another great thing is that with different kits you can pass immediatly from range to melee . Engeneer has much more defense skill than elementalist and you can win with a warrior but obviously you have to time correctly your defense skill. Every kit have at least 2 defense skill from what i see and only with pistol shield you have 3 skills for defend yourself

engis got buffed because everyone else got nerfed.

We are not so bad. But at the moment we are not the favorite of the month class.

We still ok with conditions but we have to go for defensive builds. Many engineers are playing with shield and/or toolkit and are able to 1on1 any class but I guess nobody kitten in his pants if he sees an engineer is coming to his spot.

Unfortunately they removed HGH builds from our list.

Just roll one. Engi is dynamic, fun, versatile, and is still really strong at the 2 things you want: bunker & conditions.

Honestly if you leave any class because you feel they are broken you are going to get the same feeling from an Engineer. Irregardless of that though as long as you have fun with an Engineer then you should keep at one, and playing other classes furthers your knowledge of the game dramatically.

HGH builds are better off then most people seem to suspect, but generally as above there are some very viable and effective bunker and condition builds out there to play with. At least personally I’ve never been able to leave the Engineer and feel as comfortable as I’d like.

I rolled an engi because I wanted a good condition class but I found necro to be too boring. I feel like engi gives me so much versatility and our elite skill is roflstomp awesome.
