I’ve been wondering do you guys think rarity should be added to scale kits? I mean it’s a weapon after all, without rarity on our kits a legendary rifle/pistol in end game would seriously out match our kits.

I was thinking rarity could be easily added by scaling the kit based on the level and rarity of the rifle/pistol equipped. For example if I have a lvl 30 masterworks rifle equipped, all my kits automatically become lvl 30 masterworks rarity.

If they fix it, as I understand they plan to, so that weapons stats effect kits, we will have the equivalent of this.

Poor craftsman blame their tools. Poor players blame their Engineer.

IF it was fixed it would be influenced by the stats of the weapon equipped. So rarity of the legendary rifle (as in your example) would not effect its stats but the increased stats of the legendary would. I however have not seen anything saying that they plan to do this yet or aknowledging itas a bug or intended kit design.

I think it will basically make it so when you switch to a kit you just keep the stats you have while your weapon is equipped. The idea being that since it is a kit and not a true weapon swap you shouldnt lose your weapon stats. Which would be great.

I have more of a fools wish to have it so the look of kits and turrets will change depending on your gear. So if you have Rare – MW – Epic weapon you will have a Rare – MW – Epic turret/kit skin.

Stats will be an awesome addition but for me it makes me sad to see that ever since I got my little thumber turrets its balls havent gotten any bigger even though im better geared and lvl80!

I think it will basically make it so when you switch to a kit you just keep the stats you have while your weapon is equipped. The idea being that since it is a kit and not a true weapon swap you shouldnt lose your weapon stats. Which would be great.

Yes, that is what I am saying it should act like if ArenaNet were to confirm it is a bug that they do not work that way they work now.

While this would make kits scale better, it still just a bandaid to the real problem of kits being bundles and not taking stats/sigils from the equipped weapon and that is what needs to be fixed (or changed).

There is no reason for our kits to not be effected by our equipped weapon(s) and any issues with balance (due to the extra power given) can be sorted after the fix if its even needed just by scaling down the base dmg of the skills to compensate, but as it stands we are the -only- class in the game who has minimal benefits from sigils (and none at all in the case of the weapon swap ones).

Its also not entirely fun that our kits are roughly equal to ‘blue’ weapons (stat wise) and we therefore miss out on the power increase of upgrading to masterwork→rare→exotic weapons.

As long as Anet scale our kits based on the dmg of the weapon equipped then there’s no need to add rarity IMO, I mean weapon dmg is basically based upon the rarity of the kit.

Equipped weapon stats don’t scale with equipped kits. Kits scale with our level. Try equipping any weapon and switch to a weapon kit and check your stats. Now try unequipping any weapon and switch to a weapon kit and check your stats. Weapon kit stats will remain the same, and sadly, the stats is always inferior to even a rare weapon, by design or otherwise.

Would be great if Anet can put some thoughts into this… and also some way around the ugly backpacks especially for engineers who mainly plays with kits (me), any cosmetic benefits to any weapon is lost…. legendary or otherwise.

^ yeah thts my biggest beef, I am sure the whole kits working with weapon stats and sigils will get addressed in due time.

I am most bummed that my kits and turrets will always look the same. I would like it to be so depending on the rarity of your weapon you get a different skin for turrets and kits. Even if it just made them shiny like copper-silver-gold-etc.

Being able to use dyes on them would be awesome but would also be unfair to other professions unless they let Rangers/Necros/Mesmers dye their pets(illusions w/e) and let thieves dye the color of their #1 skill since that is their most favorite thing

I believe, give or take a few small details, this is the general consensus of the entire engineer community, and has been discussed here since BWE1.
