Pistol 1 for applying bleeds is god awful bad, it’s horrid. If they won’t revert the nerf and make it how it was in beta, then at least let us trait for it. I do not think this would be OP at all, and I think that Shrapnel + Coated Bullets could lead to some rather nice bleed application both in terms of stack size and number of targets. Shrapnel already says explosions have a chance to apply bleed, and Pistol one has a small explosive AoE component, so it just seems like a logical buff to answer the fact that the standard bleed application rate and max stack size possible from P1 is horrible. What does everyone else think?

I think this should likewise be applied to turret detonations and rocket explosions – and any other trait saying “Explosions” without specifying a source should also affect Pistol 1, Turret detonations and Rocket explosions.

It would certainly make pistol a viable option for condition DPS when combined with coated boolits. Stand at 900/1050 range, get double hits (hard to manage, but with enough practice it’d be doable), get mad bleeds, make pistol decent? Add in ‘vulnerability on explosions’ and suddenly pistol seems /good/.

I would actually hate the fact that we need yet ANOTHER trait to make pistols good…
This would make the trait almost mandatory for pistols again.

Fully traited, a pistol still has less range, less direct damage and less utility than untraited rifle. If compared to fully traited rifle, it’s far worse.

Pistol traits are weak as they are. Even coated bullets should increase the range at least.

Don’t get me wrong: I do welcome traits working on different levels instead of ‘just’ this or that kit, this or that damage ability.
In that regard, the suggestion is good.

But far better for me would be to:
- improve pistols untraited
- improve the existing pistols trait

Wiggely, wobbely and other wombaty wabbity creatures…

Explosive traits affect pistol #1
(ie steel-packed powder, shrapnel, and explosive powder; So +10% damage, 15% cause bleeding, 5 sec vulnerability)
Pistol skills do 33% less damage

Be careful what you wish for >:3

Not to mention all of the mines including the racials. Heck the Charr toolbelt Hidden Pistol ability isn’t affected by piercing shots of all things, thought they’d use the same bullets and the engi is the only one who can use that ability. It’s just weird that all these racials aren’t affected by the traits when the engi/race combo are the only way to get those or to use them.

i think explosive traits do effect turret detonations. Been awhile since I tried it though, could be misremembering.

1) No racial ability is affected at all by any trait – which is, I think, rather silly. Couldn’t they be sorted into a skill type appropriate to each class, perhaps given class-specific variants, or some other way to make them function more interestingly?

2) Nope, they don’t. Otherwise, I’d inflict Vulnerability with my incessant detonation of my Healing Turret as a knockback.
