Sneak Gyro
what do you want a ballista targeting at?
You, or this gyro?
Same for most other target skills without AoE.
Even if this thing follows me everywhere & gives away my general position, it’s devastating for mesmers or rangers attack pattern.
I kind of imagine this very shadow-refuge-like.
Pulsing stealthfield, probably 3 or 4 pulses each providing 3secs of stealth, something like that.

If gyros are movable like ventari’s tablet, we gon confuse people mangyangs deeeem
I’m really wondering how this is supposed to work…I mean, I can see the value of running stealth with several people so that the enemy only knows about you from your gyro…
But here are the potential issues:
- Will this really be useful outside of running with an organized team in PvP? Not sure how often you’ll have teammates coordinated enough to make good use of this in solo q.
- Will the cooldown/duration be good enough to offset the fact that you’re really not very stealthy with a gyro giving away your location every step of the way?
- Will the gryo aggro mobs? If so, I can’t see this as having any use in PvE.
Something that just crossed my mind after being somewhat disturbed by the fact that this gyro didn’t sound very good, was fuel. Based on how much fuel this has, aka how long it lasts, it could still be decent and just be a shadow refuge/reveal bot “on a short cooldown” based on what the article stated. So it could last maybe 15 seconds, while pulsing and stacking up stealth, then explode, and you can walk around safely in stealth for the duration. So as we’ll find out tomorrow, this gyro could either be really good and disappear after a short time, leaving us with a solid stealth duration, or it could be really bad and stick around for 30-kitten being a marker for our location for AoE bombs and other Engis/Scrappers to reveal us (but 30-kitten of pulsing stealth would be insaaaane in any other game mode aside from pvp so I doubt this is the case). In any event, we have 24 hours left until we find out!
Engi Build Compilation
They are really turning us into somewhat of an anti-stealth specialist.

Assuming they’re destroyable and targetable, I’d say they’d have an aggro radius, yes.

Careful…people thought that about Sic ’Em and Lockdown. =P
I just hope that the Gyro does not have a giant “red tag over it’s head” saying.. “such and such server gyro” to broadcast it for everyone within clip range to see it a mile away. If it’s just the small gyro floating and bobbing along without the huge RED advertisement banner, it might work well for getting groups by an area unseen at a distance. Well except for those who watch for anomalies or things that look out of place.

…nothing wrong with that. Now its my turn to be a kitten mesmers and thiefs…
Depends entirely how it works.
If it pulses like 3x over 2sec for a total of 9sec stealth it can be quite useful. If it pulses 1sec stealth, every second, and requires to constantly be under it’s cloaking field it’s pretty pointless as the Gyro gives away your position and is vulnerable to being killed which would interupt your Elite.
Kind of hope if follows you around. Then that would count as counter play and the need to nerf it wont be needed.

Its easier access to stealth right now is the only reason you bring a Thief instead of an engi in PvE Dungeons and Fractal contend, when you are looking for an more optimal approach – if the Engis moving Stealth field will not aggro mobs, Thiefs will have a hard time
It seems like you can apply effects (superspeed) to these gyros. If they can be stealthed could you have 2 engineers with stealth gyros sheathing each other?

I doubt it. They probably have constant reavealed on themselves. Besides, wasting 2 elites to do what a thief can with 1 utility seems inefficient.

But from the sounds of it, use can keep the stealth on you while moving, which you can’t do with the thief.

Maybe, although SR gives huge stealth duration left over after it ends. We’ll have to wait and see whether this does as well.
I guess, though smoke bomb with traited orbital strike can give a good helping of stealth

But an Orbital Strike itself isn’t very stealthy.

there is no indication that it gives revealed debuff though.
Celestial Avatar is like an old man: Takes forever to get up and is spent in 4 seconds
you always get the revealed debuff when you get … GASP revealed!!! ö.ö

Thieves are already crying. Look at the Thief sub-forums :-P
I’m not one of those whiners, but it’s certainly hard to do good on a thief nowadays, and it’s not getting easier with HoT. Revenant also gets a revealed skill.
I’m gonna play a stealthless NINJA with my staff, so doesn’t matter for me, reveal all you want xD

The thing is, I think they never intended for stealth to be a long term thing such that you can just stealth for as long as you need to heal up. They are essentially giving us a way to pressure people in stealth, make it so that stealth isn’t exactly “free hit” mode.

Two Words: Elixir Gun. The #1 skill applies 1s of weakness and 8s of bleed with a 3/4 second activation time. That massive endurance bar doesn’t mean a thing if they can’t regenerate it back.
Edit: At least on my build. Though I got serrated steel and a sigil of agony.
Seems like this “elite” gyro is getting aggro from PvE mobs. If this is true, it’s viability in PvE is gutted.
I hope this isn’t a thing and if so I will address this for the next BWE.
Hold on, the sneak gyro lasts THIRTY SECONDS.
On a 30 second CD.
And it doesn’t seem to force revealed on itself, so if you combine this with a shadow refuge thief…
Plant SR and the sneak gryo in the same spot, run out like you normally do with SR, but the SG upkeeps your stealth duration during it’s own stealth duration, self-destruct the sneak gyro at the end of it’s own stealth duration, keep running with superspeed…
We’re looking at a full 20-30 seconds of uninterrupted group stealth.
Keep that in rotation with some smoke field blasts, and you can upkeep perma group stealth on the whole party now.
You can easily do some huge dungeon skips with that, if nothing else.
Oh wait, if that actually works, then two engies would be able to permastealth with each other in tow.
The funny thing is, I think the stealth component in it will actually be useless in PvP rather than PvE because it hard counters itself. If two scrappers are in play and both have this, neither one of them is going to get much stealth out of it with both of them pulsing mass reveal at each other.

Uhhh… no.
1) Sneark Gyro has 30s duration followed by 30s CD. CD does not start until it’s dead.
2) SR will force reveal you no matter what if you run out. Doesn’t matter if you have multiple additional sources pumping stealth out.
3) 30s+ of group stealth with Gyro is possible however you have to stop in between the travels, because the gyro follows you from behind and from the video it took the gyro 1-2s to catch up, hardly making it ideal to be used in PvE. This pales in comparison when a Thief or stealth blasting Engi can do 12-15s of stealth and you can freely move about, then restack again. It does show some sort of synergy with the smoke field stacking with Engi though, less down time in between if the group doesn’t have Thief or another Engi and doesn’t mind traveling at a handicapped speed.
You could potentially even stealth the Sneak gyro. Throw an Elixer S on it and it should in theory get stealth. Run it through a veil? should receive stealth. While i dont think its going to be OP for WvW or pvp, it might be a game changer if the engi can utilize other stealth sources to keep it and yourself hidden while stacking stealth duration.
