So I saw this on the Warrior patch notes...

Another way of thinking: Could this be the rise of traits that affect racial abilities? OR, could this just be a fluke of offering up a bonus to various racial abilities/traits only to see them renege on it after remembering their earlier philosophy on how racial skills were handled?

I see where you are going, but this specific case is really to fix a bug where some racials healing skills wouldn’t trigger a trait that have an effect when you heal. In this case no racial is more advantageous, the trait in itself does all the job.

But now, you can trigger the trait with the racial skill. Not all the races have a racial healing skill. Therefore, it is now more advantageous to play humans and sylvari as warriors based upon that one trait. Which is why im partly asking if that is going to lead to more and more racial advantages/cookie cutters.

At first I thought it’s absolutely not more advantageous to play human or sylvari because no matter your race, you still have healing skills in slot #6. If you choose to use the racial heal, which is generally weaker than profession-based heals, you simply get the benefit of your trait, which you should. It’s just logical. Because whether you take the racial skill is dependent on its viability vs the profession-based heals, not because of trait exclusion.
However, as I thought about it more, I started to see the potential on a larger scale. For instance…
should Sylvari “Seed Turret” benefit from Engi’s “Metal Plating” trait?
should Sylvari “Summon Druid Spirit” beneift from Ranger’s “Vigorous Spirits” trait?
should Charr “Battle Roar” benefit from Guardian’s “Pure of Voice” trait?
should Charr “Shrapnel Mine” benefit from Engi’s “Forceful Explosions” trait?
(I’m sure I missed some, this was done quickly)
If they are affected by traits, it makes them much more viable skills, but only for specific professions. And it gives these profession/race combos more options. Some racial skills are pretty lackluster, and that’s the way Anet wanted them. But if they benefit from traits, does it make certain races, not mandatory, but more appealing? Does it make a Sylvari Ranger that much better at group support over another race? Are Charr Guardians better at support than any other race? Does it make Sylvari and Charr OP compared to other races that don’t have skills that could benefit from traits as much?

- Restorative Strength trait: Now functions with the sylvari Healing Seed skill and the human Prayer to Dwayna skill.
And I had some thoughts; Since engineers get traits for turrets/explosives and what not, can we have a reasonable expectation for to enhance our racial abilities as well? Didn’t Anet say something about racial skills not being too overly advantageous outside of their intent? There are racial abilities that include turrets, shouts, trap-like AOE’s, and other assorted fun stuff. In the realm of possibility/plausibility, what do you think else should follow suit?
This doesn’t look like a mistake it looks more like the atypical problem we face as engineers. So does the mines change. The #1 problem is favoritism for other classes not for engineers. The other problem is that I seriously doubt anyones actually doing any testing over there on engineers before they release the patch, second I doubt any of these changes are approved by upper management before being released, and finally until they get a dev in there that actually likes and sees the potential for great fun in the engineer these types of things will happen every month, I lost all faith in their decision making with this class months ago. All my hope is gone now.
