How will this essential change/buff and fundamentally change the engineer for the better in such a way to make them actually not a underdog class? Thoughts, charater builds, kits, gadgets, elixirs, turrets. What could be new and better for the new world of the Steampunkgineer?
In terms of a new Engineer redesign future patch that we can dream of happening.

SPIKE
Blast Finisher
Drop a huge spike into the ground sending out an electrial charge and crippling nearby foes.
While in radius of SPIKE all Kit skills do 15% extra damage and 15% extra healing.
After 5 sec SPIKE will release a single elixir of each type that can be picked up by you or allies.
After 10 sec SPIKE will overcharge pulling to it all enemies within radius then explode damaging nearby enemies and causing burning and blindness.

The moment I saw the Steam creatures I wondered why the Engineer didn’t have any relation to them. Sadly it turned out they’re just more Asuran tech.
Turrets turn into Steam creatures that can follow you and behave much like the Elementalist, Guardian and Necromancer pets. They have similar overloads. Toolbelt skill makes them charge the enemy firing their weapon and explode if they reach them and the explosion mirrors their type. Rocket Steam Creature is a big explosion, Rifle Steam Creature sends out a volley of bullets, Thumper Steam Creature does something similar to the Elementalist’s Earthquake, Net Steam Creature explodes into a swarm of nets, and Flame Steam Creature explodes into the Napalm skill. The only exception is the Healing Steam Creature which explodes at the Engineer’s side for a base 1000~ AoE heal.

New Trait
Steampowered Elixirs
All Elixir durations reduced by 50%.
Elixirs now have 2 uses before going on CD.
Toss Elixir now throws a steampowered elixir bottle which will stay in place and emit its different effects once every second for 3 secs.
Toss Elixir U will instead pulse its different effect every 2 secs for its duration.
Toss Elixir R will now pulse twice each second for 3 secs
Steam powered turrets that move and follow you like pets
Or turrets with wheels, which will zero in on the enemy like a torpedo and won’t explode til it reaches its destination, haha. Probably not going to happen but one can dream…
Would be cool to have med kit packs which you can throw (instead of drop) and it would explode and a burst of aoe regen/heal to allies. Tossing elixir H would be too random since you might not get the regen at all.
