Mentioned this to someone in a PM last week, and the guy thought it was important enough to tell the world, and since it’s going to be the Scrapper mechanic at launch whether we like it or not, figured he’s right…

Anyway, if you’ve ever felt frustrated during the BWE trying to target an ally through enemies and skill FXs, especially in PvP, there are keybinding options for allied targeting. This includes a Target Nearest Ally, as well as an allied version of tab-targeting. There is no default keys for these function, and this is probably the only mechanic in the game that requires in-combat targeting of allies, so don’t feel bad if you have been completely unaware that such an option existed until now.

It’s not perfect (perfect would be keybind options to target specific party/raid members) but it’s a start.

The problem with this is that “Allies” only seem to count party members and NPCs, and if you’re not partied with someone (say, open world PvE events or roaming WvW) then it will target minipets over actual other players…
The Function Gyro really needs an auto deploy, either a key or perhaps clicking it’s “ready” icon next to boons even.

The only problem with this is it doesn’t work a lot (most? all?) of the time.

At the moment i’m standing on a waypoint with 5 other players.

“Next Ally” cycles through 3 minis and a ranger pet, never selecting a player.

“Nearest Ally” targets the same 3 minis and ranger pet but only if i move my camera to point at one of them. If i move my camera so there are only players in front of me, it targets the ranger pet behind me!

Yeah, just came to correct myself that it doesn’t even seem to target party members.
