Spvp soldier rifle elixir vs kits
tornado severely nerfed and is only useful in team battles as a method of control, not more.
I’d say a big factor for kits vs elixir is enemy team comp. if you’re against an enemy team with warrior and/or necromancer, then elixir can be useful against Lich/rampage/plague forms with good use of moa.
On the other hand, if the enemy team has a lot of ranged opponents and you’re worried about them perching to rain down damage, then the tool kit magnet pull is ideal (but you’ll have to be sneaky with it or it just gets dodged).
I’d also say that elixir is better vs high Condi teams, whereas kits gives you an additional tool to escape burst (gear shield).
Elixir S is the main reason for taking elixirs. With HGH and tools traitline you get your “Toss S” on a 32 sec. cooldown, which is incredibly usefull in lots of situations(disengaging, preventing stomps, stealth bursts). This alone is worth traiting elixirs. I personally prefer playing kits because its more fun to me, but in the current meta, i simply cant live without it.
All the other stuff elixirs offer is replaceable by kits in my point of view, but if you already trait for elixirs, its usually wise to put in some more of them. Oh, and the might of course is pretty usefull, specially nowadays, where meta kinda forces us to play a very defensive amulet(soldier).
Hmm ok so worth me trying both sets and seeing which I have more fun with then probably not worth swapping to match other teams at my mmr lol.

I would hesitate to say “forced.”
Rabid FT/TK is still more than viable in solo queue, and marauder rifle is plenty good if you have the right team comp to support it. I actually think that the soldier rifle build is pretty brutal to play with these days because you have less sustain than celestial elementalists and necromancers or cleric guardians in team fights, especially against conditions, and you don’t put out enough damage to quickly win 1v1s. With magnet bugged you cannot decap effectively with the build because it just doesn’t apply enough pressure.
I just don’t see where it excels anymore. If I want to play tanky I’ll just go signet necromancer or cleric guardian, which are both a lot stronger and hard-counter several builds.

See this is my dilemma. I absolutely kick kitten on my warrior and ranger as well let’s be honest the skill cap isn’t high. But I fail so kitten my engi. I solo queue often, I play soldier or kit Condi and I feel like I’m always the first to die, it’s very frustrating. Am I just better off playing bunker guard and afking on nodes for ez carry? -.-
eh, my pal plays full marauders HGH with strength runes and it’s an excellent build if you can play it. I’m still stuck on cele, but HT, FT, TK/Egun, S, X works great tbh. running more offensive gear in wvw, but cele works great for spvp.

Well, i agree marauder can be very strong, depending on your team comp. But other classes usually fullfill that role better. But i like to play marauder as well from time to time.
FT/TK instead isnt very strong in my point of view. Its good in 1on1 and in bad MMR where people dont know how to handle it, you can often completly wreck your opponents. But in teamfights against any half descent team/teamcomp, it usually gets completly nullified by aoe cleanses. Theres simply nothing left if your burn gets cleaned, its pretty much a gimmick build.
Teamfight is where soldier shines and excels with good sustained aoe damage. Bursts aint that hard but solid, and the build offers lots of ways to land them. And elixir s and x offer good teamfight utility as well. I think its by far the best allround build we can run at the moment, but thats just my opinion.
IP gives you constant burns, and timing IA is part of the fun. getting a half hp mesmer with 8burns is just great. works great in wvw regardless.

My damage seems to be fine, my issue is that I did in the blink of an eye in both solo and teamnfights :/

Imo
Marauder > soldier elixirs in tf’s.
Marauder > as good as soldier elixirs in 1×1s, id say better cuz you can kill ele.
Soldier kits > way better than soldier elixirs/marauder in 1×1s, okayish in tf’s(unless enemy comp have bunk guard)
I can see soldier elixirs beeing good only if you have troubles surviving in teamfights (thats more like a skill issue)

On of the reason some people prefer to go with Elixir rather than tool kit is the bug of magnet, which is pretty unreliable these days.
Soldier>marauder for solo q.
You simply pop as marauder if you have no support. 1v1 ele with soldiers by being spatially aware of aoe and run away tactic. Engi disengage very effectively, there is no harm in stealth to other side of node and re-engage with ranged. Play to the strengths, you have hard cc if timed properly and can dump dps into a stationary target. Elixir trait, with elixir h is suprisingly hearty, and with s kicker, battle sigil, strength rune = non crits 3k+. Throw some nade conditions in and the oh kitten gear shield for when the enemy finally comes at you. It takes practice, but overall far more effective than relying on paper marauder dps, or praying their cleanse rotation is sloppy.
