General it would be an awesome idea to make burning a stealthkiller and stealthpreventer, not only for engineers but for all classes
Ive played many mmos over the years some with a lot of stealth, some with a more mild approach and this is the only one that didn’t give every class at least one way to combat combat it.
it seems so simple..

It is indeed weird that AoE dmg or any randomly aimed ability that hits will not unstealth the target. Another thing that is weird is that if your enemy goes stealth and u try to use ability in the hope u will hit him, you will shoot some ability straight into the ground.

Since everywhere a tons of AOE or you will continue attacking enemy in the Stealth even without targeting him - what point in the Stealth then??
Stop eating mushrooms - be real!

Name one MMO that doesn’t have aoe everywhere, and where the aoe doesn’t break stealth. The point of stealth is to roam the map and give u a massive advantage in 1v1 encounters. Assassins/Thiefs are known to be squishy and they dont belong in massive teamfights in any MMO.

Warhammer Online, SWTOR.
To roam the map you have speed signet or mounts (in the another games).
Stealth – just a kind of defense in the actual fight.

@SilverWF
In SWTOR you could actually see the stealth people if you were close to them.
Some class also had stealth detection ability (Vanguad as an exemple) and some traits to counter it.
Also, the stealth class in SWTOR could not spam it. They only had one long cooldown ability to stealth during a fight.
So Stealth from SWTOR and GW2 are really different.

But IT IS, so simple. This stealth grants way too much forgiveness. No way to see through whatever the distance, no class related detection (even if I wouldn’t like the rock paper scissors fashion) and most importantly: No reveal asset, no reason to weaken ourselves throwing AOE’s everywhere.
ArenaNET game designers are suxx - is’t it obvious? Some OP-classes and some completely ruined classes.
Why you are wondering?

You can turn on combat log and if number come up, keep toasting the air.
I have a strong feeling that anti-stealth isn’t going to too far away. I don’t have anything substantial to back that up with other than an old peom…
“First they came for the Guardians,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Guardian.
Then they came for the Warriors,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Warrior.
Then they came for the Engineers,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t an Engineer.
Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me."

Noted, didnt know. Thanks

Not entirely true. I have yet to check on wvw but it does not work in spvp or pve mobs.
And I do agree that we need a hard counter to stealth. Hard counter in this game already exists (Utility goggles) so it is definitely possible to expand upon counters
I’d be amused if utility goggles let us see stealthed players.

Seems almost too…logical!

I made a post a long time ago asking for this, the replies were hilarious. People were all like “But then stealth would be worthless!”, “You wouldn’t carry a situational skill around anyways”, “Its illogical. How do you know people do not stealth through magic? How could goggles see through magic?” and stuff like that~
Great idea +1 for me

Did not know, been awhile since I’ve checked, thanks for bringing that up Penguin.
