Engies, Really need some advice/help and tips from players with more experience with the class.

I finally hit level 80, and have Dire Gear with Rabid Accessories.
I really enjoy the pistol shield and combos off the healing turret & f1.
It would definitely have to be a pistol/shield build

Just really could use some tips on builds that would help with survival since there are so many defensive traits, im not really sure which or where to start.

It depends on whether you want to go HgH or not.

HgH I would go 0/10/30/30/0 Elixir H, B, TK, RB
VI
I, VI, VII
VI,X, XI

I’m not currently running HgH though and run a support build of 0/10/30/30/0 MK, EG, TK, RB

VI, V, III

I run about 3K armor and 28K health fully buffed. I use EG to support my crew, TK for the cripple and block.

Do you roam in small groups or zerg?

It’s a perplex bunker build. The shield alone can give 15 stacks of confusion when done correctly. #4 toss can interrupt twice, then #5 again. 3 interrupts right there.
The tool kit is added bonus. Also, because of the lack of stun break, Protection injection + stabilize armor is almost a must (53% dmg reduction while cc’ed)

I also like to run a hgh variant with Elixir gun with noble runes instead of perplexity.

It relies heavily on keeping Weakness up on my enemies to reduce their damage, EG also stacks bleeds better. This build also has high uptime on posion. and has acidbomb for an escape when kitten hits the fan

The build in my sig is VERY good for solo roaming WvW. You should give it a try!
