So I was looking through the engineer traits and skills and found that we have some interesting ways to apply might. I was wondering how viable building for might stacking would be as an engineer? We have the following options:

1. Elixir B, a solid dps boost. Applies Might for 30 seconds. (among other abilities) Also Hidden flask applies Elixir B at 75% health.

2. Enhanced Performance, big investment in explosions for 3 stacks of might whenever you use a healing skill.

3. HGH, (Human Growth Hormone) another big investment into the Alchemy tree for AoE might on elixir tool-belt usage.

4. Sigil of Strength. I know everyone has access to sigils but still worth mentioning.

5. Juggernaut in the firearms tree also stacks might every three seconds while using the flamethrower kit.

(If I missed any let me know)

So by my count it would seem reliable to have ~4 stacks of might up at all times, sometimes significantly more. Might makes me think: Hybrid. It boosts power and condition damage equally. Why not a hybrid engineer?

This is a rough draft of what a hybrid build might look like (runes and what not still a work in progress) and is what I am currently running with solid results in PvE. (I would, however, like your thoughts on pvp viability as well.) I take bombs, I could see Grenades being used as well, however I like bombs better. (I know not very subjective) EG for some conditions and solid range and power scaling, somewhat effective healing and condition removal. I run Goggles for Fury, stun break and a large stack of Vul.

The flamethrower can be traited to build stacking might with Juggernaut from the Pre line. It usually maintains 7-8 stacks on it’s own. You can also using the healing turret’s “detonate turret” to combo with bombs for some additional boons.

Thanks Vexor, will add that in. Seems that a blast finisher i.e. BoB in a fire field, such as the fire bomb = 3 stacks of might.

I actually use a fairly similar hybrid build myself.

I’m mostly pve at present with a decent amount of WvW.
The might applies every time you switch to or from the medpack. I vary between ~ 4 -7 might constantly.
I also use skill 5 of the medpack for fury and, along with elixir B, swiftness for about 36s out of 40s recharge. This also allows for a decent amount of vigor.

Main stats I stack are condition damage and precision. I’m also running undead runes for more Cond Dam from both vitality and toughness.

The utility skills offer a fair amount of damage and crowd control.

All up it works quite well for my playstyle.

with HGH and 4 Elixirs you can get about 12 stacks of might max, but you usually hover around 4-6.
This does, however, remove a lot of an Elixir Engineer’s utility. I used to do roll with this all the time, but now I use Cleansing Formula 409 because it has far more utility.

Some extra info:
Drinking and Elixir B gives you two stacks of might with HGH
When Throw Elixir B gives you might, you gain two stacks
Alchemy Traits that make you drink Elixirs at 75% and 25% HP will give you an extra stack of might. (Two for B.)
Throw Elixir R does not appear to give you a stack of might (I don’t think Throw Elixir U does either, but haven’t tested)

There is a build I run that uses Rifle – healing turret – bomb kit – rocket turret – flame turret – supply crate.

I do not buff much might myself, although I can get 12-15 stacks with BoB + detonate. I typically get a lot of might from my groupmates.

Specing fully into firearms, with condition damage food, and a few pieces of carrion gear ((I typically swap my jewelry)) is enough to give nice condi damage without giving up a lot of power.

With might burning and confusion hit really hard, and with both turrets it’s easy to keep burning up full time.

I use a bunker support heal bomb kit/elixer gun build and I can easily give 12 stacks of might to myself and everyone around me with this neat little combo:

BoB toolkit skill, fire bomb, healing turret, weapon switch, shield 4-4, detonate healing turret.
