Q:

Didn’t play my engi since up 80 (was too lazy to collect another gear for new char). So, which stats are best for pve-dps engineer? I’m thinking about berserker (obvious choice for big numbers i guess) but i could be wrong.

Berzerker : Decent damage, no condition build up, perfect for trash mobs and speedrunning
Rampager : Probably a tiny bit more damage in the long run if mobs and bosses last longer but you’re useless on structures
Rampager with Berserker trinkets : Best dps with a grenadier, but still not as good as zerker on very short fights or structures.

So zerker seems to be the most balanced of the 3

Krag has the right idea for power builds, but Rabid is pretty excellent for condition builds.

Also, be aware that you will be pretty squishy if you go full berserker or rabid. So, you might consider mixing in some Dire or Soldier for some toughness and vit.

For PvP you build zerker’s irrespective of class

Depends on build.
A) Zerker Flamethrower is capable of doing significant damage in my experience. Plus, it’s such a large AoE and passes through terrain (which is godly in WvW). So far, I have been unimpressed by other stat combos with the FT.
B) Grenades are awesome with condition damage. From what others say, it seems they are good with non-condition damage too; I don’t know from experience. I personally run Rabid gear with grenades.
C) P/P (Or P/S with the new runes of perplexity) uses rabid gear. I don’t love it myself, but some people do.
D) Rifle DPS can be achieved through zerker gear, but I doubt that it’s particularly amazing. I haven’t tried it in several patches, though, so I may very well be wrong.

There are tons of other viable builds, just not many other damage ones.

I’m in the prossess of getting full celest.
I think for the best balance in my play style I could have only gotten celest on my jacket, plants and my rifle then used the others to focus on power, con, and prec and been “stronger” than I am now with almost full celest.

The stats are strongly based on your playstle. Not just your build. If you can manage to not go down with poor vit/tough then sure use zerker.
If your like me and have a zerker thief friend that you have to babyset all the time. then maybe try something more tanky.

I’ve played both zerk and condi nades and the dps is overall pretty similar. I like going condi because of the toughness on Rabid gear, which might prevent possible 1 shots that happen with full zerk (i.e Lupicus whips).

However, PvE has a good amount of structures that need to be destroyed such as gates or crystals which aren’t affected by condis. You might also run into condi caps running with other condi players. Thus, I almost always run zerk in PvE.

Generally, my PvE build is full zerk nades with SD mixed in, running nades, tool kit, and rifle turret. Tool kit because the block is crazy useful in PvE when you’re so squishy, and meleeing mobs that reflect projectiles is a bonus.
