Static Discharge Builds and Stategies (WvW)
Personally, I like taking MedKit, Goggles, Rocket Boots, ToolKit. I also grab Modified Ammo and Sitting Duck.
You can dish out great damage and conditions. Sure, without +condition damage they don’t hit for a lot, but getting spiked with an SD burst and having vulnerability, cripple, burning, bleeding, and confusion stacked as well is a btch.

I ran something similar to Seras post. Med Kit, Rifle Turret, Tool Kit and Personal Battering Ram. Lets you control your opponent by knocking them around a bunch while you throw out your damage. I usually go for Rifle Mod other then Sitting Duck because you have a bunch of control to start with.

I like Sitting Duck because it gels nicely with Modified Ammo, essentially making your Net Shot increase your damage by 6% due to the 3 simultaneous conditions. And that’s on an 8sec cooldown.

I have recently taken up SD too, been practicing in obsidian sanctum a couple 1v1 and small group fights, i can say u need to be good with the build as it is very glassy so using ur active defence and kite is essential.
I personally go 0/30/0/10/30 using tool kit, goggle and rifle turret however i sometimes swap goggle for elixir s if i want to be more defensive.
Im not a pro with SD engineer but it is definitely more interesting than condi engis and much harder in my opinion. GL

Actually it’s 11%: 6% from Modified Ammo and 5% from vulnerability stacks. And it increases all direct damage (e.g. toolbelt + SD bolts) not just rifle skills.

i like the grenade SD build.
lots of damage, lots of control with magnet/rifle/accelerant packed turrets/chill, and defensive capabilities with tool kit block and vigor.

And the vulnerability stacking gets even better when you factor in the full rotation, utilizing Net Shot, Jump Shot, Throw Wrench, and Goggles. I think it’s 24 stacks of vulnerability with the above skills and Sitting Duck. Plus the damage modifier from Mod Ammo, you’re looking at some healthy damage dealing.

Tid bit of advice on SD builds and wvw in general, never go full glass. Being able to be in wvw and getting the full effect(stats) of armor/weps/food/oil you can greatly increase your survivability or severely hamper it if you do or so not spec full glass. Full glass and you’ll never be able to take more than 1v1. Hybrid and you can take 2v1 or more depending on your targets builds/prof/skill level…
Also you actually don’t need to go into firearms to have an extremely powerful/sustainable SD build. Keep in mind that we have minimal stun breaks/stability/condi cure so we have to spec Into defense to not be an easy bag. It all comes down to personal preference in the end but just wanted to add some food for thought.

This is exactly what ive been racking my brain over for the past 24 hours. Although I love the SD build im full zerker atm which makes me very squishy. Id like to rework my build a little for more sustain but keep the SD aspect of it. Is there a way still achieve high SD crit numbers but have decent tough and vitality as well? I currently have 3 exotic suits. apothecary, cleric, and zerker. the utility skills id like to use are rocketboots which I love for the mobility, toolkit for defense as well as offense, and eilixir S for both defense stealth as well as offensive stealth positioning. I know these utilities are optimal for SD procs bc they don’t necessarily have low toolbelt cds, but id like to try and make it work. I also love bombs and nades but might be killing my defense too much by taking either one of them. So would a mix of my current suits work for this or should I go for another suit all together. not sure on a trait set up for this yet either, as long as I have 30 in tools and 10 in alchemy the rest is trivial to me. any advice would be greatly appreciated and thanks.

10 alch what for? You could give this a try: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQFAUlIqic37SfF17IyoHk2ntZhUIh3HIF5lfB-jUyAYMA6DQ6TZNBKIWOZ0YbDA6aMl7iq1vASBwkyI-w
You aren’t extreme squishy, still have some power/crit chance, can super speed-rocket jump every 20 sec (or change kit refinement for power wrench) and change the first major inventions trait for more defensive utility.

I guess the 10 in alch isn’t a must, the main reason I was doing it was to get the elixir b at 75 health and the elixir S at 25 health for some extra survivability.
That the build I’m aiming for/ currently have a slightly weaker exotic version of it. Yes I know zerker hits harder but assassin is more consistent for damage, which I appreciate more. 90% crit chance total if you include sigil of perception so you’ll rarely see your skills hit below 2k. Glassy but defenses come through elixir s, toss elixir s, and gear shield and dodging. Toss s to sneak up on someone and hit them with jump shot followed by rifles combo/static burst.
It might be too squishy for some but its just perfect for me

There’s so many options honestly.
Start with static discharge then build from there… Always use rifle for a SD direct dmg build… Stay around 1600 toughness and try to get around 18k health and around if not over 3500 attack… Around 30-35+% crit chance(fury from med kit or hidden flask)…. 60+% crit dmg for the best results…. Sharpening stones and the foods up to you. Try out some builds in pvp before in eating gold into something that in the end doesn’t work. Pvp will give you the rough idea of how you should trait and the use the build editor to get your acquired stats.
Then like I said be patient like a tiger and strike with perfect timing/enjoy
Asura Ele- Sir Im afraid youre short. Why is it always short jokes. No, youre short on the bill.
This is my favourite one:
this gentleman has some nice SD videos and variations of builds.
