I feel like this skill should really only trigger if you are in combat. I find it really irritating that it triggers whenever you switch kits, which is useful to get swiftness, but now you put the combat portion of it on cooldown. It’s just clunky.

When ground-targetted bone minion explosions become a thing, I will change this signature.- 2013

Its annoying, but I’ve been trying to stay with that over mecha legs because of the extra dps/dodges from tools. Outside of combat, I slot in toolkit because its the main one thats useful for running and won’t put me in combat. The trait is annoying in combat (dungeons) too because if you swap to bombs at the wrong time, you’ll give the boss defiance. There are a few situation where the extra effect can be useful, but for the most part I’d rather not have the extra effect at all.

FT, Med Kit, Toolkit

None of these put you in combat. Use that to your benefit

With med kit you can even toss a pack and get some extra swiftness on top.

It’s a pain but a little attention to detail and swapping can have you living just fine. I actually like that it activates out of combat now, without that I’d have to get in combat first to trigger my magnetic bomb for example.

Just run TK if you’re running around. The Super Speed boost is nice, even if TK is mostly useless outside of PvP and WvW roaming.
