Why are engineers loosing a slot to equip kits?

I mean if you look at all other classes they can swap weapons through fights and have three utility slots. We cant, we not only don’t have to option to swap weapons we also lose the slot to have a kit in.

There is a simple solution to this, and that’s make our weapon swap, a kit space! allowing us only to equip one type of kit at a time (which I feel is a good compromise in fairness) The Engineer profession all ready feels very weak and by us not getting the full use of our utility’s weakens us even more.

The whole benefit of being an engineer is that you can use more than one kit, and still not suffer more than a second swapping cooldown on each swap…

I understand your point, but personally I don’t like the suggestion.

All I want is either:
1. let sigils of main weapon work on all kits you equip
or lesser but still decent:
2. let weapon swap sigils work when swapping out a kit, back to your weapons again.

Either one should work, at best both should…

As for the utility slots: the kits make up by having 5 new abilities on top of their tool belt skill too.
Only thing the kits lack is a stun breaker, at least one kit should have one (and no: not the strongest like grenades or bombs). Tool kit would seem most fitting in my opinion.

Anyhow: understand your point, but not for me please

I don’t think they should take up the secondary slot because being able to switch between up to 3(4) kits is one of the benefits we get for not having a secondary weapon.

Weapon stats need to carry over when you equip kits.
I don’t think we should get sigils on our kits or have them use the one on our weapon.
I do think they need to activate the swap sigils when you switch to weapon from kit, with the same 8(10?)sec as everyone else.
I agree tht kits weaken our utility.

Imo they should have made kits work like turrets as far as the utility skill is concerned. So when you equikittent instead of it turing into the “swap” button it turns into another utility skill that goes along with the kit. We still have the swap weapon keybind and that works fine for switching out of kits. I don’t need two swap buttons.

Short Answer: No

We don’t need this, we do not lose a utility slot to equikittent, we have the toolbelt skill to even out the number of abilities we have which is more than other classes with a ‘bundle’ kit (like ele conjured weapons for example). Not to mention many engineers use multiple kits so restricting us to just 1 is a huge nerf in both playstyle and versatility.

Kits need 3 things (2 now they fixed one):
1) Sigils need to work, especially ‘on weapon swap’
2) Stats on your gun (or pistol/shield etc) need to apply even when a kit is equipped; note, we are already balanced around us having those stats look at sPvP where no stats on weapons (its on the amulet) so we get full benefit then.
