I am a huge advocate of boon counterplay in PvP and think that we need more boon removal or less access to boons. So with that in mind I have the below idea for a boon removal skill on the engineer.
I really like the flavour of this trait and would love to have more incentive to use it above the much better Elixir S and Backpack regenerator. Since we are getting some minor trait balances(most likely) with the coming balance patch I thought I would post my suggestion for this trait.
Inversion Enzyme : Conditions removed from affected allies are converted to boons. Enemies affected have their boons removed. Maximum 5 targets.
This could also be a corruption like necro, but I don’t think that fits thematically.
What you guys think?
Take it all the way to finish: allies condis→boons, enemies boons→condis

Something like that could be an amazing replacement for the utility skill Muddy Terrain or Sharpening Stone .
An survival skill with low CD and it is true we need something to rip boons. This is very true for example against the Veteran Karkas in PvE.
Also it would add more build variety to PvP i guess.

- But just to make it different to boon corruption from Necro.. Something that allow the ranger to get the boons from the targets and send his conditions to them?
The boon exchange could work like the shout WHaO, for each boon stack from each target you get 1 stack/ X seconds of that boon to avoid OP skill.The conditions could be sent in full just to keep it simple.
So basically you want to make it different from necromancers corrupting by copying mesmers Arcane Thievery? xD

I would love to get more boon strip on my engineer, but even if it seems to fit thematically to give it to Inversion Enzyme, I wouldn’t want it because this would make the Elixir Gun an even more must have.
I’m going to post my suggestion for a new Elite Specialization, which will focus on boon management (removing from foes and removing them from the engineer himself for powerful effects, so weakening yourself for a better effect like corruptions).

I did not know that the ele had that skill.. But your suggestion is also great and seems so interesting (consuming boons… That’s such an interesting concept)

SRD is no good in conquest. your opponent gets to choose when to decap while fighting you. you get locked in to dying to condis when your healing turret just reset.)
Elixir gun is already taken in almost every build, it doesnt need this on top of everything else.
Either one or the other, offense or defense. Boon removal (on #3+4 only ofc) or boon conversion. I could get with that.
PS I hope egun#2 gets fixed.

SRD is really good in conquest, it just has some slight inconveniences.

It’s kinda funny but I hate the auto drink an elixr s when you drop below threshold trait. It is such a PITA in 1v1’s where you are just about to finish them and….. now your a midget and can’t put the last shot you needed in. I find it such a huge liability, costs me much more than it saves me. Just a personal pet peeve and probably a side effect of my mediocre PvP play skill.
Agree we dont have viable boonstrip/corruption atm.
