When traited, make it replace the first skill when swapping into a kit and make it instant so it doesn’t get in the way of your auto attack if you’re trying to use that.
Boom, now we can control it’s CD without effecting the new speedy kits.
But if it replaces the first skill, it DOES get in the way of the AA. the #1 skill might not be set to auto, (personally I have my settings so the autofire doesn’t start until I use the skill once, so I don’t aggro extra enemies) and then the grenade kit doesn’t auto attack in the first place. Unless I misunderstood your meaning.
But how about we tweak that idea so it replaces the kit skill, when equiped, which normally becomes “Drop kit” but we can drop the kit anyways using the weapon swap/drop bundle key, so we don’t really need it in both places.
Interesting idea, but I don’t know that would really help. If nothing else, it’s just an extra button that needs to be pressed on top of everything else. The main issue I see is that it doesn’t truly control the cooldown because you’re locking yourself out of your auto-attack unless you’re willing to pop the kit refinement skill, which may be an inconvenience (i.e. having to drop the mine from grenade kit even though you just want to throw a simple grenade volley).
Furthermore, that’s only part of the issue. Another (and bigger, IMO) part of the problem with kit refinement is that multiple kits interfere with each other. If that isn’t solved, then I don’t think your proposed change really matters because you’ll still trip over yourself with your kit swaps, unless you’re able to develop some sort of rotation that you’re able to never veer from (i.e. PvE only).
Also, it doesn’t change the fact that the majority of the abilities kit refinement provides you are completely and utter crap. The only one that has true usefulness to it is the bomb kit because it can be used to set up skill combos. The others have either too short a duration to be useful, don’t synergize with any of the kits abilities, or have very weak effects.
Not trying to bash your idea, I just don’t think it’s going to be a solution that will actually accomplish what needs to be done for kit refinement.
I’d just like to see Kit Refinement not proc when out of combat. Boom, you suddenly have swiftness when roaming, but still have control over which proc you get in fights.
